Is Udemy a mega scam?

I really needed this course: https://www.udemy.com/course/the-ultimate-google-adwords-tra… but I saw it was $200 bux lol….

So I e-mailed them and said hey it's 10 bux according to everyone on forums… can I have it for that price? I get offered this: https://prnt.sc/ppzkum

In B4 you guys say it, I am aware if I was able to be patient I probably could have had it for free haha.

  • The dodgey 'millionaire' Benji on survivor Oz just bought other people's unsuccessful courses and added fancy clickbaity titles. There isn't much quality control.

Who can forget Udemy repeatedly running large scale spam campaigns until they were threatened with legal action? It was the usual rogue engineers working at a rogue third party contractor that they repeatedly ignored complaints about until legal action was threatened. Great company.

Wasn't someone here interested in something like this to save $884 dollars?

Mate as someone who learned Google adwords/SEO, I'll tell ya there's no need to pay for a lot of courses. Most information is already out there if you do the research. Youtube and LinkedIn Learning (for about $40 a month) has an endless supply of training videos. Then you can always join an online forum or even go to the conferences to meet people and teach yourself what you need to know. Best.

Is that before or after applying the discount code?

        • Before taxes :(

          • @dasher86: did you manage to get the high yield investment too?

  • Udemy itself is not a scam. The catch, however, is that a LOT of courses are often given away for free in order to rack up ratings and numbers. A lot of "$200" courses are frequently on sale for $5-20 and even free sometimes.

Maybe people mentioning it in the forums: (USD) $10.00 = $14.55 (AUD)
If that's the case, it's fair. And yes, AUD $200 is a scam and Udemy is full of scams like this.

  • If dealbot promote them in his threads every 5 sec they must not be a scam :)

  • Technically, it's not a scam. Content creators can charge whatever they want for their material, if someone is willing to pay that price, then it's a sale.

Most courses aren't worth their price and often on sale for free so keep an eye out.

  • It's not a scam, if someone is willing to pay $200 for an unaccredited course then that isn't Udemy's fault as they don't determine the price. I have bought many IT courses from there (always for 10 to 15 dollars on 'sale') and have been able to obtain a bunch of Microsoft cert's from what i've learnt through the courses, for the money they are great value.

  • what's a line between just a scam and MEGA scam?
