Sheridan Throw $50 (Original Price $229.95)

That's kind of misleading. These have been reduced from $100

@7hours 44min ago: New Guys, could you please introduce yourselves

          • @7hours 44min ago: I remember there was a Vic man that got a certificate of achievement for being the only ever person to pay full price for a rug… Much like this Sherridan throw at $229, who would buy only 1 at 229 when you can buy a second for $46 more.

          • @7hours 44min ago: This post is for Cinnabar, so other product prices are irrelevant.

                Misleading advertising
likely to be misleading if products have not been sold at the specified 'before' or 'strike through' prices in a reasonable period immediately before the sale commences.

  • I remember watching a show where an Australian company was manufacturing an item for Myer, selling it to Myer for $20 and then it being resold at $300… It shocked me to see how fat profit margins CAN be so a bargain isn't always as it seems… Clothing/homewares are particularly susceptible to this inflation unlike commodity items… Hence you rarely see electronics slashed as much as clothes etc….

Though, it does look like a nice throw tbh.

    • selling it to Myer for $20 and then it being resold at $300… It shocked me to see how fat profit margins CAN be

So what do you think was the profit margin for that product???

      • Revenue from the sales exceeding actual cost of the product would be exceptionally high no matter how you slice it

        • So what do you think was the profit margin for that product???

          • @jv: Based on my generously estimated actual cost, 87%

            • @Heaps for Cheaps:

Based on my generously estimated actual cost, 87%

So you estimate their costs on the item are approx $141…

              • @jv: No, $39. Are we talking about my $300 example still as I can't figure out why we are so far apart.

                • @Heaps for Cheaps:

                  No, $39

You estimate the profit margin is 87%.

That makes the additional costs $141 on top of the actual purchase price of $20.

                  • @jv: My calculation:
                    Actual Cost: $39
                    Revenue: $300
                    Margin: 87.00%
                    Markup: 669.23%

However, my accountancy skills don't pay the bills so I might not be reading the whole picture
