  • Wow, this seems like a great deal. What's the avg. price difference usually between Harvey World Travel and the best Internet rates?

  • you can check their prices online.. and it seems like their prices is not too expensive compared to other flight/hotel booking website

  • Hmm. It says you can't book flight only holidays, but can you book hotel and car only holidays?

The terms and conditions look a little too short.

  • +1

    Hmm just did one comparison

Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur, Oct 17/18, deluxe double
    Hotelscombine - $113
    Harvey Norman / Octopus Travel - $248

Hmm, that's a big difference. Will research more.

    • +1

      Another one, same date
      Prince hotel, deluxe with breakfast
      Hotelscombined - $118
      Harvy World Travel/Octopus - $155

Less of a difference but still a lot dearer than the competition.

      • so two nights would cost $310 + booking fees. You would pay $99 + $60 + booking fee or $159++ vs $240

So a short stay might be worth while.

    • I guess in theory your Hotels combine rate costs you $113 in that scenario, and your Octopus Travel would cost $99 (which would cover your $248) so even with a bad rate you still come out ahead there.

Do we have to book these at the Eastgardens Harvey World? Is that what I am reading? I can't go to my local flight centre to book?

      Cheers.

      • That's true. Still ahead I guess. It says bookings are essential via their telephone number. Does that mean book in to see the travel agent in person or do your booking for your trip on the phone?

        • Actually, there is

Take your voucher with you to your booking

I guess it means you have to make an appointment with them. Oh well. Good for those close by.

        • Hi Neil, you can make the booking over phone via (02) 8347 7400

    • Hi Neil, harvey world not harvey norman btw.haha

  • I think you can't do flight only booking.. you need to combine it with hotel or car + flight..

Generally their price are a little bit more expensive than hotels combined.. but when you calculate the total savings.. it might be worth it.

I rang Harvey World Travel Eastgardens (02 8347 7400) and they said Spreets has misrepresented the deal and they are not honouring it. They have asked Spreets to take down the deal and refund any money.

    • Ha. That's cause you could get $500 accommodation for $198. That would have been great. These sites and businesses are terrible at these group deals

    • Nice work e_wolfe.

In the comments section of Spreets, the rep says it's still valid. They also say that you can make your bookings directly over the phone. Bizarre.

    • .

    • Hi e_wolfe, we can confirm that the deal will be honoured by Harvey World. Thank you.

  • good work e_wolfe and you are right they said they will give refund. thank you

  • I just bought one hope they keep the deal going.
But for those looking for domestic in the fine print:
"Can buy unlimited vouchers, can only use one voucher per booking for domestic travel and may use two for international bookings"

Was going to buy one and my wife buy one but is only "one per Booking".
Still should SAVE something on flight and hotel.

  • The spreets people are still confirming that the deals in ON.. how strange! I'm tempted to buy one just in case it is really ON

  • You can only use 1 voucher per person - confirmed by Harvey World EG, NOT TWO

  • Well that is an evil deal…
No way im buying it.. tbh not THAT much of a deal.. if you are 100 percent sure you are going etc.. it will be worth it.. but do not buy it incase you are not sure..(ie. forcing yourself to go on holidays) because you don't save that much on a decision like this..

    99 for 250..
    Save 150?
they usually take about half of that for booking prices anyways etc..
so really in essence save 75 dollars for a last minute decision(if you arent sure)

  • lol, i wouldn't buy this… it's all a sham and you'll be regretting it

there'll be all sorts of terms and conditions with this… trust me when i say Harvey Travel are not dumb enough to be losing money on hotels or flights… they'll only do this voucher things if they can still make a profit.

Fine print will be, prices are per person twin share. That means you need to have 2 people and you can only use 1 voucher per booking. Or prices will be as per Rack Rates. Or booking only subject to availability for certain periods.. ie - they will allocate 1 room only for voucher users and if that is taken it is not available for vouchers but if you want to pay the harvey rates then you can book.

    Only suckers would buy this.

  • Hello everyone on this thread,

Please note that the Harvey World Deal (http://bit.ly/ozCnVR) is still on and will be honoured by Harvey World Travel Eastgardens according to the fine print.

    We apologize for any confusion.

    Regards
    The Spreets Team

    • So two voucher per person for international flights. Ie, if I book a flight + 3 nights twins share, and my girlfriend book a flight + 3 nights twins share (on two separate bookings, together two flights and 6 nights twins share), we together can use 4 vouchers?

      Please confirm.

    • Just called Harvey World EG AGAIN, they confirmed that again, despite the confirmation from Spreet, its ONE VOUCHER PER PERSON ONLY, and Spreet will have to organise refunds for those who have bought two or more because they have misrepresented the terms from Harvey World.

I referred specifically to Spreetssupport's post, the person taking the call confirmed with the manager, who then talked to legal and confirmed DEFINITELY ONLY ONE VOUCHER per booking.

    • Well, I've emailed Harvey World Travel to comment on this thread. Shall be interesting!

  • Spreets just closed the deal with 9 hours to go. Now what?

  • lol, i told you its all a sham. only suckers would buy this.

got to be careful with all those "fine prints", especially the ones that aren't printed and only explained to you after you buy it, lol

remember, travel agencies are out to undercut each other for $$$, classic example is Flight Centre, "we'll beat any flight otherwise you fly for free" and has this EVER HAPPENED? no.. lol, it's in the fine print that you do not have visibility to see

  • OK, so HWT got back to me via email:

You do not need to come into the store, you can make a booking over the phone or via email.

The deal will be honoured, it will be honoured as 1 voucher per booking. Not per person. No exceptions. Unfortunatley, Spreets printed the part about 2 vouchers per person with out authorization from us. It was supposed to be 1 voucher per booking.

It is definately 1 per booking.

A little too late as the deal is closed. Now I want to buy it!

The Spreets rep is still saying the opposite on their webpage as of 3:20PM.

  • Hello everyone,

    To clarify once again,

Harvey world is definitely honouring the deal.

PLUS both what we and Harvey World are saying is correct. The words 'Persons' / 'Booking' cannot be used interchangeably. To clarify,

You can buy up to two vouchers per person and multiple as gifts.

You can use only voucher per Booking if the travel is domestic.

You may combine two vouchers per Booking if the travel is international.

    Hope this clarifies.

  • +1

    Not really Spreets.

You are saying 2 vouchers per international booking.
HWT is saying 1 voucher per booking (international or domestic).

    Why is the deal closed?

    • yeah better u clarify asap, before you get bad reputation among ozbargainer :)

  • Hey Neil,

We can assure you that we have been in constant communication with Harvey World Travel East Gardens and we can confirm that you can use one voucher per domestic booking and two vouchers per international booking.

If you would like us to confirm this to you via email, please email [email protected] with the subject
"Harvey World Travel" and our support team will reply to you.

    Regards

    • can you tell us, why are you stop selling the voucher?

      • Hi joannatan,

A merchant can request a cap on the number of vouchers sold, and when this number is reached, the deal is over. This is the case with all deals that have requested a cap. Hope this clarifies. Regards

        • +1

So they told Spreets to cap at exactly 276 sold? Coincidentally at the same time the dispute on conditions happened. At the end of the day, it's the merchant you have to deal with and if they are saying verbatim you can only use 1 voucher per booking, then that's the word you have to take. Just glad that this was caught early instead of months down the line.

Best of luck to everyone who bought one.

        • how about you update the new term and condition on your website to clarify 1 voucher for domestic booking and max 2 voucher for international booking per person, it makes all clear. and can you make sure that you talk with hwt management to clarify this thing and their staff got the same understanding. now, this current situation just makes both of you not look like a professional company as customer get confusion with so many different information flying around.

below are the comment from hwt fb site:
          Amelia Smith
Need to know if we are a family of 5 and the vouchers on spreets allow 2 vouchers per person, can we use all 10 vouchers on the deal?

Harvey World Travel Eastgardens Hi Amelia,
          3 hours ago

Harvey World Travel Eastgardens The deal is for 1 voucher per booking. Cheers
          3 hours ago

Raymond Lou Quote from Spreet site: "Maximum of two vouchers per person and they can be used for the same trip – that’s $500 worth of value for just $198!" or "Can use two for international bookings" or "you can max-out your savings in this offer with the chance to buy two vouchers – raising the stakes to $198 for $500 value – and even use them for the same trip!"

    • Hi Spreet

Based on my conversation with HW earlier, who said they will ask spreet to refund the vouchers, I have since booked my flights elsewhere. Can you please confirm that you will process my refunds amongst all that confusion?

      • +1

        Hi RayEarth2162,

You can send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Refund requested: Harvey World Travel" and our support team will resolve this for you right away.

        Regards

      • Thanks Spreet.

        • Sounds good - but let us know how long it takes or if any problem.

          Well done rep!
