Transferring Money from Kenya to Australia

Hello everyone,

Looking for the best bargain way to send about 30k AUD from Kenya to Australia. There seem to be plenty of money transfer services that can send money from AU to KE, but not vice versa! Would like to know if a deposit into a local (KE) bank account and a withdrawal here would make most sense or if anyone has transferred money from a similar market before

Thanks!

Your best bet is probably going to be Western Union. Have someone pop into an agent littered everywhere and do a transfer to here. Might not be absolutely cheapest but at least relatively reliable.

I know an Australian prince that can help. You just need to transfer $25,000 into his Kenyan bank account and he can release $30,000 into your Australian account. PM me your account details if you want to go ahead with it.

I think you need to pay ATO your debt in iTunes gift cards first before worrying about transferring the money and Nigerian Australian prince

    • I thought this prince was offshore??

convert to a cryptocurrency, then to aud

Lol. Convert it to bitcoin, send it over and hope to Christ it doesn't go down. Could easily put $30k on that end and withdraw $25k on this end. Upside is, it could be worth more…

Legitimate option, but I would think finding an exchange over there to accept the KE would be at a very high premium to BTC globally.

So traditional transfers/Western Union will still win by default as it'll be easier and cheaper than crypto.

  • Maybe not the most cost effective, but how much would a bank-to-bank transfer cost you?
I can see that Barclays and Standard Chartered are there, and I imagine that the other top banks most likely have arrangements with Australian banks.

For a transfer of $30k., you might be able to get a slightly better exchange rate, but you will have a bit more peace of mind for the transfer to succeed.

That is, assuming that your money is not caught up in any sanctions.

Not sure if your currency is covered, but these guys are good.

  • if I help you, do I get 10% commission?

the Nigerian Prince gave me the commission.

  • Hi mate.

We live between Kenya and Aus and have had to do the transfer a few times. Unless you are happy to take a serious hit in commision, its easier to just pick up the money when you are there. Last transfer service I used charged $50 per $1000 transferred but that was many years ago.
    All the best.
