[Magnetic] Loop Antenna for ShortWave Listening w/ preAmp & cable < AU$ 50.00

So, MFJ, etc. offer loop antennas for Hundreds of $$

Designed well, a [magnetic] Loop Antenna can improve
reception, by bringing less noise into your receiver.

Some (if made for transmit mode) may have tuners,
But others (for Receive mode only) may have preAmp's.

Here's my latest discovery in this class of antenna,
costing Less than Au$ 50, if you shop around on
AliExpress:

  • MLA-32

If includes a wire (for the loop), a box to connect the
loop-wire & coax.cable to, & another box (preAmp,),
powered & used inside.

Interestingly, the Chinese do Not [always, AFAIK]
include a length of PVC pipe, that supports the top
of the loop. (Admit: It IS more cost effective to buy
that part locally.)

While I haven't tested this loop antenna, others have.
Google & Learn.

PS If you ever use a mag.loop ant. to Transmit,
KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY FROM IT.

Also, the connectors provided with this antenna
(for conn'g its preAmp box to your receiver) seem
a good match for SdrPlay's ramge of products.

    Ensure antenna
    is Sec'ly
    [attached] to
    your TIN
    FOILhat.
    (AFAIK)

    • Very very important to correctly ground the tin foil hat. Vastly improves the [magnetic]
      capacity.

  • I didn't find any MLA-32 on Ali, but I did find an MLA-30.

  • Found pvc pipe at bunnings, very cost effective but now do I need to buy bluetac to stick it to my roof?
