Suggestion for a Travel Card to NZ

Hi guys!
I'm going to NZ for the Christmas holidays.

I'd like a prepaid card to pay there with no fees. I'm looking mainly for something to pay with, I'm traveling with a kiwi friend of mine so, if I need cash, I can ask him.
I checked with ANZ and AusPost but their cards have very high fees, the cheaper I've found looks Travelex. What do you think? Is there something better?

    • If I'm not wrong, these are all banks which offers travel cards. I'm looking for prepaid cards regardless the bank, something like AusPost travel card, 7eleven card or something else.

      • +4

Not popular due to unfavourable exchange rates, fees, service and general messing around needed for PrePaid cards.

  • ING Orange… No need to look any further. Pre paid cards are a rip off. And you won't find one without fees

    • Ye but that's a bank account: statements, correspondence at home, interest and whatever! Too complex for what I need!

      • Email statements if wanted, no other correspondence. Ive had an account for a year and not received one thing at home or one phone call…. But enjoy the terrible fees and exchange rates then :)

        • What about Ubank? I was thinking to close my ANZ account and move everything on Ubank (I don't like having multiple bank account). Any pros than ING?

          • @MatteCar: No idea. I changed to ING and it's now my main account. Never pay any fees and exchange rates are VISA's. Great card and account. I also used this in NZ

            • @Arcayne: Sorry wrong reply didn't mean it to be in this post
              not applicable

  • Yeah I use Citibank plus, going again January, last 2 times never used a NZ bank note.

  • As has been concluded many times here on OzBargain, never use "Travel Cards" and never, ever use Travelex!
