They don't come on sale very much or ever. NBAstore.com.au or a few sports stores. You'll usually get discounts if the players switch teams. Just remember if it's half the price it's probably fake. Then there's crap fakes and good fakes.

Look for ones that have reviews with photos of the product. Pretty easy to find. Generally those with 1000+ sales
check a page on Reddit called jerseyreps. they post a lot of reviews and info
As people have mentioned they hardly come on sale, especially at this time when the season of the NBA just started…. Usually it goes to 30-50% off if they dont make the playoffs / are knocked out and the off-season it goes on sale as well.
You can also get it from DHgate as stated above, even though it's not legit… People can't really tell unless you stand side by side with someone with the real jersey.

NBA jerseys are actually somewhat uncomfortable with the numbers so if it's just for training get him something elsePretty silly for the NBA to have sold TV rights to Pay TV previously when they can make more money selling it to FTA and getting merchandise royalties.
I have some great fakes from pages mentioned above, good fakes are very hard to tell the difference from real ones.
