The Ultimate Clothing RESET

Hi all,

As with most people, I own an insane amount of clothes, a large proportion of which I don't ever wear, for various reasons. Some I just no longer like, some don't fit, some have started to wear out/get damaged etc.

I'm not considering hitting a reset. Getting rid of all my current clothes and embracing a minimalistic approach.

I'm thinking
5 x Business Shirts
5 x Plain White Tees and
5 x Plain Black Tees
5 x Plain Grey Tees
2 x Work Suits
5 x Trousers
2 x Casual (Party) Suits
5 x Vibrant/playful singlets
5 x Running Shorts
20 x Pairs of Socks (10 Sports/10 Work)

Mostly in relation to the plain tee's, shorts, singlets, socks etc (Cheaper items), I wish to get advice from OzBargainers.

Where can I purchase these items, good quality, cheap and in these large qualities?

Online?Overseas (If so, which country?)?Local?

What price should I expect to pay? Any tips?

Thanks

15 tshirts in total seems excessive. Could you maybe go 3 of each colour? Or even 2?

    • Yeah good point. I think I will decide depending on price, and availability.

I.e. if cheapest works out to be in Vietnam, then availability isn't ideal so I'll buy extra, and just keep them in storage

      • Why would you even want more than one of the same item when you could have 15 unique ones anyway?

Variety is the spice of life.

    • Not for me i have 5 of each at home. I get mine from AScolour

  • "I'm not considering hitting a reset." ???

    What about jumpers and jackets?

    Also what are vibrant/playful singlets?

      "Also what are vibrant/playful singlets?"

      Are they brony characters?

  • Uniqlo.

    • Too exxy.

      I'm thinking…. $2-$3 a shirt from South East Asia

You get what you pay for ay.

At the very least Uniqlo Supima cotton shirts are quality stuff.

Actually most people don't have an 'insane amount of clothes'. Have you seen how the average person dresses? I mean of course you have because you're one of them. But you're at risk of looking like Zuckerberg with this approach. It doesn't seem difficult though, quality is more important than super cheap price otherwise they won't last a year, you could get all of that at Uniqlo which are really good and the longest lasting clothes I've ever had. Singlets are disgusting though even if using them for exercise. And every suit is a casual or work suit, just depends how you wear it. Also please no v-necks, they're offensive to the fashion gods and my eyes lol.

    • good god please can we see how you dress?

      Singlets are disgusting

      Ozbargain's new favourite word, disgusting.

No shoes? No hats? No ties? No underwear? No jumpers?

    But "5 x Vibrant/playful singlets"?

    • Must mean a bit of sideboob.

I had a PE teacher who was sent to jail for his running shorts being too playful.

  • No allocation for underwear?

Lol people, can you please recommend a LOCATION!

Where can I buy this stuff?!

As suggested above, Uniqlo. If that's too expensive then try Kmart or consider not throwing away every piece of clothing that you currently own.

You already said earlier that you're "…thinking…. $2-$3 a shirt from South East Asia.."!!!

  • My inventory of tops are:

    2 x OzBargain t-shirts (one quick dry)
    1 x Shopback t-shirt
    1 x Shopback Christmas sweater
    1 x Cashrewards t-shirt (XXL)

www.next.com.au/en/men and www.marksandspencer.com/c/men will satisfy most of your requirements for good quality (albeit slightly bland) and relatively cheap functional clothing. They both deliver to Aus cheap/free.

TM Lewin constantly has offers for shirts. They're not the best quality compared to some others in that bracket but do have the best offers.

I've not found any non-designer clothing in Australia to be of decent quality or worthwhile. Uniqlo slight exception but not my preference.

Edit: If you're just after dirt cheap (as you say $2 a shirt) then maybe not.
