Is It Worth to Buy Apple Care Service for AirPods Pro? Any Cheap Way to Buy It?

Hi OzBargainers,

Just got my AirPods Pro and saw some people saying AirPods is "disposable" as the battery will die after two years. Found on Apple website the Battery service fee will be $75 each and free if you have Apple Care and battery health is less than 80%. Is it worth to spend $49 for Apple Care service? Is there any cheap way to get this service?

Cheers.

is $75 more than $49? there's your answer

    • But is the possibility of saving $75 for a battery replacement after normal warranty runs out but before AppleCare runs out worth the definite $45 you'll spend up front?

Yes, because you make sure to replace the battery for free before AppleCare runs out so it keeps it going. Chances are you get given a direct replacement anyway.

My original AirPods from May 2017 (2.5 years ago) are still going strong. Decrease in total charge they hold but not major difference and still quick charge with case.

      • You just need to make sure your battery goes below 80% at the 1 year mark, then again at the 2 year mark, so you can use up both your free replacements for a total effective lifespan of 3 years.

But you can only get free battery replacement if the battery health is less than 80% with Apple Care, I'm not very sure the battery health will goes below 80% within two years.
