Need to Buy Best "Small Screen" Budget Smartphone

I currently have an Apple iPhone SE 32GB. I am looking to change my phone. I like smartphones with small screen size (Apple iPhone SE has 4-inches screen size).

Can you please suggest any good "value for money" smartphone with screen size less than 5-inches?

I don't need many fancy features. I will be happy with 32GB memory and 4G network. Every thing else can be basic. I am looking to buy the smartphone outright. I am with Telstra "sim-only-plan" at the moment.

For some reason, I like Sony Xperia smartphones and I am currently checking Sony Xperia X Compact smartphone. But it is hard to buy Sony Xperia smartphones now. Not many places are selling it.

Thank you.

Sorry, the iPhone SE is it for now. The options in Android aren't very tempting.
There's been strong rumours that in 4 months (?) they will announce/release the successor to it.
    Basically a 2020 Apple iPhone SE X.

    • Thanks for letting me know. Highly appreciated.

      • Keep in mind that the new SE will have a 4.7" screen, similar to the iPhone 8.

        • It’s funny how they seem to have completely missed the point of why the SE was a bigger seller than it was expected to be. There is a whole segment in the market that wants a phone that actually fits in a pocket.

  • I upgraded my 64gb SE to 128gb because of the lack of options around. Camera and battery suck though.
Sony compacts are pretty good. I had z3 compact before and I think it was better than the SE. Screen was nicer, battery lasted longer etc, great phone. The xz1 is the same size I think, while the latest (xz2?) is a little bigger.

The X compact is an older model though, and not so good. It's more of a mid-range, while the other compacts are all high-end specs. When I broke my z3c I would have got another sony, if they hadn't released the x compact that year.

  • Not sure of your budget but would recommend the Samsung Galaxy S10e
