  • Used a WBC Amex so probably will take a while. Out of interest, can people who bought giftcards mention that as well?

  • +1

yes, we bought it with woolies gift card. all deal go throught with $50 credit to our credit card!!!
it's a 20% off for $250 fuel at caltex station!!! see it this way!

  • not yet, i am using nab amex velocity card

  • i received my credit last week. i have an amex (professional association branded version), didn't use a giftcard

  • Me too - used a Qantas AMEX Discovery to buy a $250 Wish card - and AMEX $50 cashback has arrived.

    • sweet. I got mine as well. Didn't buy a giftcard. Bought a dryer - so the credit almost mostly pays for the delivery cost. :) Same Amex discovery card.

  • i thought it was for electronics only and selected stores only……… how did u guys manage to buy wish/woolies gift card and get the credit! Good job!

    • Dick Smith

    • they won't be able to check what do you buy inside the store, as this credit card company can't request invoice on every purchase (except customer request for charge back), imagine if you need to process 5000 invoices and checking them manually if you bought electronic stuff or not, it cost them too much.

  • I bought computer from dell with ACS Amex. Still haven't got it yet. :( has anyone with ACS amex already got it?

  • used my BMW AMEX to buy a wish card, good to inform credit has been received!

  • still nothing, anyone know how to contact amex to check this promotion?

  • nothing :(

  • I think u need to check ur amex card. is it the amex card with the big4 banks or just by itself or with other professional membership amex card. the big banks amex card could face some issue who you can contact to find out your offer.

    • .

  • Still nothing on WBC Amex

  • Nothing so far with CBA AMEX

  • nothing so far with NAB AMEX

    • Ditto…

  • nothing with ANZ AMEX too

    • well that covers the 4 majors :-)

  • nothing with DJ amex =(
I got an email too reminding me to spend!
    Should i call?

    • who do u call?

  • well 23 days till the end of August for them to get their act together

  • I think we might need to call amexnetwork directly about amex offers like this. chance is getting the call centre operator to know what you talking about this from big4 amex line is pretty low. but chance amexnetwork not going to help u before u are not actually card member but from big4 banks. I got really piss last time talking about this with big4 last time

    • why would you get annoyed at the banks for not knowing anything about a promotion that had nothing to do with them?

  • According to their T&C's

    • single transaction of $250 or more at one of the participating American Express Merchants (in store or online) no later than 23:59 AEDT on 30 June 2011.
    • Please allow approximately 4-6 weeks from the end of the promotion period for the $50 Rebate to be credited to your account.

    As per Wolfram|Alpha:
    - 30 June 2011 + 6 weeks
    - Thursday, August 11, 2011

They have three days before I make a move.

On the phone to chase up now. It's a nightmare as no one wants to take responsibilty. Rang AMEX and they say to contact the bank. Ring the back and they say they are not party to the promotion and to call AMEX. Called AMEX a second time and again said to call the bank. I am not going to waist my time here. If I can't resolve it in the next phone call or 2 then it;s off to the ombudsman.

    • Hey Unity

Please keep us posted on how you go. I fear I and many others will need to do the same thing, so any info you can provide on how to resolve this swiftly will be great.

      Cheers!

      • I have made progress. I am waiting for a reply from AMEX. After going back and forth I finally found someone within AMEX that said it's got nothing to do with the banks. If you need to chase up your $50 rebate you must go throught AMEX Australia directly, not with your bank.

The very kind gentleman that I spoke to mentioned he'll be able to look up my card number and see whether a money order has been issued to me. I am waiting for his reply.

I would advise you all to keep the email confirmation you received when you firstly registered, or the reminder email that followed several weeks later.

After initially getting the run around from AMEX and the bank I gave a call to the Finance Ombudsman to find out which institution I should be approaching to sort this out. They seemed very keen for me to lodge a dispute there and then. I told them that I would first like to try and sort the issue out with AMEX first.

    • Why don't you wait until after August 11, as Iwinstan has pointed out.

    • I had the same issues when I was chasing up the Rebel Sport deal with Amex, got the run around, gave up, never did get my gift cards……..grrrr…..is this going to be the same……

  • I got mine today. Money order. WBC Altitude platinum.

I suspect that people will be receiving their money orders in the next few days. Those who were getting direct credit (I think these were the non-big 4 issued Amexes) got it last week.

    • I have little faith in Australia Post. In the last few weeks there have been 2 parcels that I have sent via registered post that Australia Post cant find (I presume stolen). Lucky these items were registered. If it was ordinary mail there would be no way to prove I posted these items and would be majorly out of pocket.

  • I received a money order $50 today. My amex card is ANZ Frequent Flyer. I urge u guys with big4 might just hang on for a week or so to check for mail money order. We happy with it at the moment

    • When you started this thread on 24/7/11 you mention you got the credit. So what's this one for?

  • ok so far ANZ and WBC score 1, NAB and CBA score 0.
I am waiting until i got my money order before I purchase another $250 gift card from big W

  • response from 1unity - my partner have the amex with professional membership and mine with anz ff amex. we sign up at the same time. That's why I put 'we' and 'I' on different post :)

  • With WBC. Received the much awaited money order yesterday through registered post :)

  • Got mine in Registered mail today :)CBA Amex

  • ok so far ANZ, CBA and WBC score 1, NAB score 0.
come one NAB give me my money order!!!!

  • I'm in SA and still waiting for mine, used CBA Amex.

  • I really don't think there is anything to worry about. I reckon 80% of us will have our money within the next 48 hours or so

  • NAB Amex - Nothing yet.
Had almost forgotten about it … but will now be waiting tomorrows post with interest.

  • Well I know as a fact that my rebate definitely has not been issued. I am dealing with someone at AMEX above the customer service level to get my situation rectified.

  • guys if u call amexx, talk to the operator that you wanna talk with
    Paul Jenkins
    Head of Network Marketing
    American Express

    • I am talking to someone from marketing too but I don't think that's the guy I'm dealing with. Did you make any progress with this guy?

      • what number do u call and the person name?

        • Can't get to him, he's on business holiday!

  • Times up! Will let you know how i go with my experience today. Thanks to joannatan and unity1 for your findings so far. Hopefully it will make the process a little quicker with the hard work you two put in.

    Stay tuned.

  • This is for a NAB AMEX Rebate

All AMEX hotlines apart from emergency lines, ie Lost or Stolen Cards, do not open till 0800 AEST.

At 0800 AEST i attempted to make use of the Customer Relations Hotline on 1300 736 659, which directed me to an automated system that requested my card number. Three times I provided my CC number and each time it would state the system is not available. It would then cut me off.

Next, I tried the Membership Rewards department on 1300 363 276. They were insisting that due to the card being issued by a third part financial provider that they are unable to assist me with my request and I would have to speak with my bank. I stated that a few "friends" have been through the same process over the past couple of days and that I have been advised that I should speak with Paul Jenkins - Head of Network Marketing. Again I was placed on hold while the operator attempted to find Paul Jenkins.

The operator requested I call back at 0830 AEST, and to request that I be connected to the Switchboard which has the extension 9 "in case the next operator doesn't know how to put you through to the switchboard"…

    Not looking good so far.

  • 0833 AEST, there is a 10 minute wait time for the call to be taken by an operator… i guess there maybe a few people trying to do the same thing… I then asked to be transferred to the switchboard.

I asked the switchboard operator to connect me to the Network Marketing department. The gentleman advised that there is no department called that and stated there were several Marketing departments and he would need a bit more information for him to be able to connect me to the appropriate Marketing Department. I gave him the details and he was fully aware of what I was trying to achieve as he "has received many calls related to this". He put me through to Card Member Services.

The lady in Card Member Services was insistent that I have to speak with NAB with regards to this as my AMEX is with them and they only deal with American Express cards and that there is nothing they can do.

Going to give NAB a call now.

  • +1

NAB know nothing about the promotion. I have kindly warned them to expect a few similar calls today.

In all honesty, as far as I'm concerned calling the NAB was simply a formality. I'm not going to waste any more time on this trying to figure out what needs to be done, I'm simply going to speak with the Financial Ombudsman Service.

As detailed on the AMEX website http://www.americanexpress.com/australia/customerservice/res…

    ================================================================================================================
We expect that our Customer Relations team will be able to respond to your concerns. However, if you feel that this issue has not been resolved to your satisfaction you may refer a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service ('FOS') of which American Express is a member.

contact Contact the Financial Ombudsman Service on:

    Financial Ombudsman Service
    GPO Box 3
    MELBOURNE VIC 3001
    Tel: 1300 780 808

    Web site: www.fos.org.au

I feel it has now just turned into another one of these cases where companies try and take people for a ride and depend on people not pursuing it further. I am not one of these people, and I'm sure many others on this site do not fall under this category either.

As I mentioned in an earlier post it has nothing to do with the issueing bank. The matter has to be taken up with the promoter, which is American Express Australia Limited. This has been confirmed with the gentleman that is assissting me through their marketing team.

It is definitely worthwhile progressing down the pathway of the Financial Ombudsman. This is a fairly large promotion that is making people spend money, probably unnecessarily in cases, to get a monetary rebate. Why is there such a lack of accountability on behalf of AMEX Australia? Their card services should be trained to handle this issue and enquiries about the promotion.

The fact is that this promotion is running again, and I'm certain there will be others that will run into the same problem again. We must make AMEX respond, firstly by helping us with our enquiries, and secondly making them honour their side of the deal. Hopefully the action we take now will make it easier for others in the future.

  • guys remember when you call amex, ask to speak with their manager directly, then tell them on the email that you got when you registered your card, there is a person name Paul Jenkin (head of network marketing) on the email.
tell them this promotion is nothing to do with the card issuer, this marketing created by paul jenkin from amex directly.

    • Which number did you ring?

      1300 132 639 or 1300 736 659

      • the second one

  • Just wanted to know that who out there at the moment still not received either rebate or moneyorder?

Since we raise up such issue. Is it only NAB AMEX that is the problem or any other provider still no issue the $50.

From the list, we got ANZ, WBC and CBA all covered the cashback.

  • I am still waiting here - ANZ AMEX - but Tassie is always last get get things via mail :)

I received both the registration & reminder email for the offer - time will tell I guess!

  • personally neutral view.. I think it is still assume that they work on the promo (assume!). Since we most of us just get the money order unless someone not from ozbargain, we might just let me go for one more week because go the financial ombudsmann. so as we get there they have no excuse. NAB might be slower to response or internet clichs issue.

    • i don't think this is related with nab, this promotion run by amex. when we buy item from merchant, it will route to amex system then go to credit card issuer for verification, if okay then request will be send back to amex system then back to merchant for approval.
so amex have the record which card that done transaction on certain merchant. i think the first 10 digits is the identification who is the card issuer and what type of the card. so this is nothing to do with card issuer, rather than from amex marketing campaign, so blaming the card issuer, i think this is not fair. they might even not aware about this promotion, i read smh, daily telegraph every day, i don't recall amex has advertised this promotion.

  • guys, if you got linked account, you might also send message to one of amex senior marketing manager below. i have sent one, other member might also send another message to her, just say hi, at least she knew there is some issue with their promotion

  • No dice so far with Westpac Amex

    • Got it as a registered letter! Didn't realise they were going to give cash, I thought it was going to appear as a credit.

  • I've got my $50 money order by registered mail yesterday - with Westpac :)

  • anyone want to be a volunteer, try to call them and wanna speak with their pr, pretend that u call from current affair or today tonight, u got alot of complaint about this and under investigation, then see what their response

    • I think you would be the ideal candidate. Congratulations, you got yourself the job.

      • no thanks :)

  • I acquired my ammunition for the next round of rebates from AMEX for the "Renovate & Decorate Rebate". Spent just under $1,000 at The Good Guys yesterday :)…

  • Got mine in the mail box yesterday with a thank you letter from that Paul Jenkins guy :)

    • u do realise that the american twitter ac?

      • at least we can ask them how to contact paul jenkin

  • U may have sign up the offer very late that may lead to delay your credit issue from amexnetwork.

    • i sign up on the first day posted at ozbargain. and i got email reminder as well.

  • I have the NAB Qantas linked American express and have just been told by Amex services (2 separate people) that it is not eligible for this promotion AT ALL. Not happy Jan!!! They stated that the NAB card was not a TRUE Amex with all the services that that implies, and NAB had just paid to use the logo and part of their sevice.

    • But did you get a confirmation email when you first registered your card and later the reminder email?

      • Yes (and in fact i just tested this with the latest offer, for which I also got an almost immediate confirmation). After speaking with AMEX I have now spoken to NAB. They say that we are entitled to the basic features of the Amex network, but not all the fruit.

    • interesting, i just wondering if my fate will be similar like yours, i have nab velocity card that have visa and amex. but on my last statement from nab i got brochure for amexnetwork.com.au/nab-fashion

Eligibility. To redeem the offer set forth on this Registration Page (the “Merchant Offer”), you must be 18 years or older, a holder of a valid consumer American Express Charge or Credit Card issued in Australia either by American Express or by a licensed third party bank issuer of American Express-branded Cards (“Licensed Issuers”) and you must have received an invitation to register for the Merchant Offer (an “Eligible Cardmember”).

  • Who can get through Paul Jenkins?
Amex customer service don't know anything about it….as soon I read out the first 4 digits…sorry go through the credit card issuer…

  • The previous 7 - 8 Comments are irrelevant. The bottom line is, we were able to sing up for this promotion (and the current AMEX promotion) using our AMEX cards "by a licensed third party issuer of American Express branded Cards" (from their T&C's) and received confirmation emails detailing our card particulars as "Account Ending" on the confirmation email, and reminder email's.

Also, as clearly outlined by their T&C's "The Promoter is American Express Australia Limited (ABN 92 108 952 085), 12 Shelley Street, Sydney NSW 2000. Australian Credit Licence No. 291313."…

The whole thing has nothing to do with the CC Issuer. It is interesting though that there has not been a single confirmation from a NAB-AMEX CC holder, but there has been confirmations for ANZ, CBA and WBC.

I am giving them till the end of the week before I contact AMEX again to see how the Marketing Escalation record has proceeded before i contact the ACCC.

  • my money order was missing in action, still under investigation.

  • I too am a NAB Velocity Amex holder still waiting for the rebate, grrr!

  • I'm with ANZ and still haven't received anything yet.
Going to give it till the end of the week before taking it further.

    • Sound advice. I too will be doing the same, if AMEX haven't resolved it by then i will make a formal complaint with ACCC first thing Friday morning and share my reference number with you all so you can add your two cents to the official complaint, if you so please.

  • ok guys, i just got another feed back from amex, please be patient, it seems some of the money order was sent on the 12 aug.

"Further to below, I have been advised that your rebate was sent out via registered post on the 12th August. The post office has advised that these could take around 10 working days until delivery. I know of a couple of Cardmembers who received their vouchers in 2-3 days (they had started sending out vouchers from week beginning 8 August).

Can you please keep a look out for the letter this week / next week and let me know once you have received.

Apologies for any inconvenience that this has caused.
    Thanks"

  • ok guys, just got another reply, if you want check ur status please forward your email to [email protected] , its bettter if you forward the registration email that you got first time when you registered your card. and this email might not working if you are sending via gmail.

    • Bugger … I'm really regretting losing my emails now. I needed those confirmation emails as evidence !! (I accidentally deleted my Outlook pst file a month back :( )

      • how about the email reminder? just try mate to send ur email to them. i called the lady that handle my case, she is try her best to help me, but sorry i can't posted the number in here, better u guys sent her an email so she can do her job quietly in the office. i also told her about many member being told to call card issuer. and she assure me that all call centre should be aware about this program now.

  • Anyone one with CBA Amex got their $50?

    • Not me yet. Might need to start chasing it up soon :(

      • +1

Me neither but left an email this morning with the email address provided by joannatan. The lady called me this morning and advised I was eligible but no money order had been generated as yet. She said she'd call me back today to give me a ETA for the money order. Very good service.

If you received the confirmation email I cant see any way you will miss out, but some people may have to go the same route as I did and call them up.

  • Just got note from post office registered mail. I believe this is it

    • Nothing here yet. No reply to emails on the prescribed email address above. No reply to escalation case made last week, nothing. ACCC here I come i guess.

      • I left my phone number when I sent the email and they ended up calling me. Maybe send them another email with your contact details.

        • Sent them two emails, with home, office and mobile number. Including my home address as it appears on my statements. Included all confirmation emails, and sent via my work email address… Over the course of the past week or so, I have called several times and have sent two emails… enough is enough.

        • if u sent the email not from the email that you registered with amex, please check your spam/ junk folder, as my gmail can't send the email address, then i have to send via other email. then they sent me other email that asked me to register to read the email that they sent to me, it seems secured web application. below is the copy that i got from them.

as i said please be patient, it seems only 1 person handling this email, if 100 email come, it should take her time to check every single one. and as my phone conversation with her, it seems this marketing was outsource to another company, so she also rely on this company to give her answer if ur name on the list or not.

    • just went to post office this morning to pick up my registered mail, open it straight away and cash in directly.
on the envelope, i saw this mail was posted on 17 aug 2011 and try to deliver to my place on 18 aug. so i believe this third party in sydney, i guess there is misinformation that the amex got from their third party that organized this money order. i guess the request was sent to post office to produce my money order on 12 then they just finished printing on 16 aug and posted on 17 and deliver to my place on 18

so guys, just another reminder pls be patient, what you can do is send email just to confirm that your money order is on the way
