Curcumin (active ingredient) in turmeric has very poor absorption and should be taken with bioperine (active ingredient in black pepper). If you want to get proper anti inflammatory benefits go with a supplement that has both of these..! Hope this helps..!

    • The Bioglan one is quite good too.

    • The GO Healthy Turmeric caps are good.

Well apparently you don't pay attention because that's literally what the Meriva-SF licensed products are.

Anyone who uses the formula is getting the piperine enhanced version.

      • Meriva curcumin results in a skewed curcuminoid blood profile and metabolism as well. It's an outdated attempt at enhancing bioavalability, doesn't deliver the actual active molecule, instead it being a phosphorylated derivative of unknown therapeutic benefit. There are better forms now.

Ideally with a lipid too. Curcumin is highly hydrophobic and is best absorbed with a healthy dose (5g) of high quality fish oil.

If you want the best curcumin, find a NovaSOL product. It has about 185x the absorption of curcuminoids.
Other good products that are highly bioavailable types of curcumin extract are CurcuWin (136x) and LongVida (100x).
By comparison, most other curcumin products are average to poor.

    • Thank you for actually answering the question.

I was aware of Meriva formulas (piperine enhanced formulas) from several talks on inflammation, but unaware of whether the increased bioavailability actually made it through digestion.

My concern has also been if used in conjunction with other medicines or supplements the piperine can cause over absorption.

I'll have to look into this NovaSOL variation.
