Computer monitor choice for a Noob

Hello everyone!

I have started to work from home and my work laptop doesn’t quite cut it for reading and comparing docs side by side..
Can purchase any cheap tv with a hdmi port to use as a monitor? Or do I need to get a specific computer monitor?

Side note- I don’t have a base, and it’s a Dell laptop. The extent of my fanciness/graphics needs will be making PowerPoint presentations occasionally

Thanks for supporting a complete noob

  • You could use a TV but it's not recommended if you're going to be spending hours staring at close up. A monitor will be clearer and better option. Check what ports your laptop has and get a decent monitor that suits. Viewsonic tend to be decent value for money generally.

      You forgot to say VX3276-2k

  • Text on TV won't be pleasant to view at.

Check how many display out from your dell laptop - probably 2 with 1x hdmi + 1x vga
If so, any cheap 2nd hand $50 bux 22" 1080p from gumtree will do , get 2.
You might need to calibrate sharpness from the vga source.

dont go 4k for anything below 32''

  • Is 1440k still the sweet spot?

  • Thanks so much guys!
