  • Budget?

  • Around 2k

  • Should check out Q Acoustics 3050i for about ~$1300ish

Award winning sound, bit weak on the bass so will a separate sub

  • That price range would indicate pro-grade audio gear. Try asking at places like Factory Sound who can recommend speakers & amps or powered speakers for your use case.

Have you got a mixer or cables to go with them? Or are you looking for something simple with integrated Bluetooth?

    • I have no experience with the newer stuff and not to sure how Bluetooth sound quality stacks up against wired connections . Iv got everything to run big speakers I just need the speakers to crank .

  • People sell half-decent consumer grade hi-fi speakers on gumtree/marketplace ALL the time, for like 15-25% of cost. Stuff like Jensen, Dali, Wharfedale etc. They also tend to be products people look after since they are not cheap to buy. After a while they downsize to soundbars for whatever reason. I got a full Jensen 5.1 set + onkyo 7.1 reciever for like 500 bucks, which would have been around 4k+ new a few years back, perfect condition.

  • A pair of Kanto Tuk's on bookshelf stands. What a beauty.

    • They look like toys are they really that good?

Hey guys I'm after just 2 front floor standing speakers for music that crank over 200 w with a big woofer

    • over 200 w with a big woofer

Few and far between in modern floor-standing speakers.

      Magnat Transpuls 1500.
      https://www.magnat.de/en/audiophile/transpuls/

      Or

      Klipsch Forte III.
      https://www.klipsch.com.au/products/forte-iii

Go listen to both and pick one.

      • Thanks mate they look awesome just what I'm looking for :)

        • Yes there was a time in the past where this ‘large-woofer’ speaker design was the most common in Hi-Fi.
(Floor-standing, shallow-wide cabinet, large woofer etc)

Then suddenly the market design moved to the skinny floor standing speakers which are most common today.

The two models I linked are old-school design with newer components. I guess for those who still prefer the ‘large-woofer’ sound & design.

          • @thebadmachine: Exactly Marge I really like what I see never heard of the the magnats before . I think they look awesome have you ever heard them?

            • @Bargainbattles: Disclaimer: I am barely into the Hi-Fi game and actually more interested in ‘powered speakers’.
I have only been in the market for ‘bookshelf’ sized speakers, so I have little experience with floorstanders & larger speakers.
I saw these Magnat Transpuls on YouTube and found them interesting as they are a modern speaker with old-school design (similar to older Marantz / JBL speakers).

A quick look at Magnat’s website and you will see that they make mostly modern designs such as bookshelf’s and narrow floorstanders, so the Transpuls are a one-off design for them.
They are a German company and I thought they looked solid.

If you look at Klipsch’s heritage line, and their past experience in speaker design such as the Klipschorn, you will see they have had much more experience with these large-cabinet designs.
Klipsch is a solid American speaker company, they also make speakers with narrow modern cabinet designs (the ones with orange cones) which are known to be their mainstream consumer models. These orange cone speakers are sometimes seen as their ‘budget’ line in the US since they are affordable and sold at BestBuy etc.
The Klipsch heritage line use a horn-loaded design for the midrange and tweeter which gives them a distinct sound, so I suggest you listen to both the Klipsch & Magnats before you commit to buy.

            • @Bargainbattles: By the way just looked up Klipsch Forte III’s.
They cost much more in AU than in the US even after conversion. About double actually.

Magnat is within your budget so maybe just go listen to them and see if you like them.

  • I would head into a store like Carlton AV where all speakers are ready to listen. But like other posters, high-end speakers go for much cheaper 2nd-hand so take a look at stores to find something you like and check if its on gumtree/ebay. I am a fan of Krix speakers.

    • thanks mate .What model krix speakers?

  • In Sydney you could visit Digital Cinema in Auburn. I have spent over 10k there in the last few years. Svs prime towers are in your range and have a very nice sound with plenty of bass.
