Can anyone recommend me Basketball shoes?

Hey all,

My mate plays every week, and asked if I wanted to go!
I use to play when I was younger, but this is just for fun.

I figured, I don't really have any suitable shoes@ I had a quick google and I found some nice looking shoes, however no idea if they're any good!

Money isn't a major issue, but I'd like to keep it $100-150 max if possible tho some I mentioned are more expensive.

Men's UA SC 3ZER0 II Basketball Shoes
Adidas N3XT L3V3L
Converse All Star Pro BB
New Balance OMN1S
Nike Kobe AD NXT

Black Friday around the corner, hoping to get a pair on sale.

Thank you

Too many variables. Depending on your playing style, where you play, how often, need to be answered but check sites like weartesters

    • Just once a week, indoors!

  • What's your playstyle as well as weight. What do you want in a shoe? Is this for outdoors or indoors?

    • Indoors, once a week and just for fun!

I use to play Forward, but I got a feeling with these guys I'll be playing guard.

If I may ask, what is your weight (give me a range or a low/med/high if you don't want to be that exact) and have you had any knee problems in the past?

And Do you prefer lowtops or hightops?

        • I'm 101kgs, muscular but i'll be around low 90s normally.

I'm 6'0, no knee issues and no perf.

  • https://www.peaksport.com.au/collections/clearance don't have the street cred but are functional & comfortable… Worn by the great Tony Parker.. the socks that come free with the shoes are the best, but they charge $20 just for the socks so I have bought multiple pairs of shoes at $35 just for the socks.. TP1's at $55 or Delly 1's at $90 are good buys..

    • But they're ugly as sin errr

    Welcome back to the sport!

If it helps, Footlocker are going with the flow and doing a click frenzy sale as well for 20% off.

PG3s (134 with current sale) would be good for guards (any pos actually) and they're really good for indoor playing. They just need a proper wearing out period. Go in store to try it.

Another good one would be LeBron soldier 13s down to 160 (with current sale) if you require more ankle support.

Both shoes are grippy and will do you well in good court conditions.

KD12 is good with full length Air Zoom unit. They are $190 (after $30 off Nike deal at the moment), and plus 20% cashback via ShopBack, it'll be $150 all up.

Or else Giannis Freak 1 is pretty good, tho upper quality is a bit meh.

    • oh dang! disregard what I said about everything. This is a great all rounder at a great price. Pick it up before the deal runs out! (KD12)

      Nice find!

    • I'll look into them, so all I mentioned are no good? I spose going for the best looking shoes doesnt win lol

        Looking at your list

Men's UA SC 3ZER0 II - Its okay but being a Curry shoe, it doesnt have much cushion and is horrible for your knees imo.
Adidas N3XT L3V3L - No laces so it either fits really well and works well or it's horrible. Too hit or miss imo (You wont know till you try it instore its like a one shape fits all kinda thing.
Converse All Star Pro BB - Converse is just starting to come back into basketball so unsure how good it is..
New Balance OMN1S - Same as above, infancy in basketball shoe making… It just came out as well..

Nike Kobe AD NXT - This is the only one I'd recommend in this list! :D IF you like how it looks go for it! And it's got a cool laceless pull system to show off and be/look cool (unsure the longevity of such system tho. But haven't heard complaints!)

        • My friends have the omn1s and they look good and he says it feels good (so far) so you can try those as well. They look the nicest out of the bunch!

    hardens vol 4 or 3

  • If you have a smaller shoe size, check out Facebook Marketplace for people who have grown out and get some second hand ones. For indoor you will want proper gripping shoes or you will be that guy who slips over all the time.

You will need to decide whether you want low, mid or high. I do a low but that's my taste as I feel weird with "big clomping shoes" [as I'm a white middle aged guy not Lebron].
