As best I recall these come with heat wrapped clear plastic over them (remove this) a very fine mesh outer filter (dont remove this)

  • Great. Thank you.
Mine didn't have the heat wrap plastic, but it was the mesh like plastic i was referring to.
i read somewhere that Xiaomi copped some flack as the sensor was still producing results even with the plastic still on the filter.
Xiaomi have since removed the plastic (which i assume is the heat shrink wrap you're referring to).
I just wasn't sure if the mesh like plastic was what they were referring to.

  • Starting to wonder if my purifier is faulty. Says my air quality is excellent and only reading 001. Yet I can see dust floating around where the sun shines through the windows.

    • Same with mine, don’t think the air purifiers do what you expect them to do though.

      • I tested mine with a lit and blown out candle. The meter went up and eventually back to 001.
Ill have to move the purifier to another location to test it out.
I still feel the mesh cover on the filter would block a bit of air entering the filter

        • Any luck with the purifier? I bought mine today and it has constantly been at 001. I tried putting it in 3 different room and the reading stayed at 001.

    • Is it in the middle of the room ?

  • Have any of you used other brands and can compare?

I'm reading more and more reviews of the Xiaomi Air Purifiers and despite there being such a strong following here on OzBargain with the deals and the specs, anecdotal evidence would indicate that the all in one filters are consumed significantly faster than other brands (eg Sharp/Philips) and that there are limitations such as being unable to be left on high power continuously more than 3 hours.

I've only owned Philips air purifiers and found them to be very "dumb" machines but they work really well and when I used the, they seem to help remove airborne dust and pet dander too. We recently bought a Dyson hot/cool link purifier which in theory should do the same thing but it definitely doesn't feel as effective.

Keen to try and work out whether to try a Xiaomi purifier (looking at the 3 or the Pro model) or just buy another Philips to bolster our living room defence!
