Good Deal for Polarised Sunglasses?

I'm looking for a pair of polarised sunglasses to prevent glare in the snow (will be hiking in Nepal).

Any good deals at the moment? I've got $150 I could claim for Optical on my Health Insurance but I think most providers jack up the price anyway.

Are these any good? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/487547

  • If you're talking about good quality sunglasses (lenses), I can't recommend Maui Jim highly enough. I've had mine for more than 10 years and just can't complain. Deals are a bit harder to come by, but they are stocked by optometrists so without knowing the details of your ability to claim, that could be a real win for you.

  • can't really help your direct question but something to consider…

not knowing the subtleties of high end polarised VS low end, the adventure zones in Nepal incl. of course Kathmandu are full of knock off items that are still really good at a fraction of the price. did some trekking in Nepal earlier with a bunch of stuff I bought off the street there and still wear today, assume the polarised sunglass market is similar.

A shop that are on the level and every piece of advice and kit was perfect for my Annapurna trek - Shona's Alpine shop in Kathmandu.

having a few cheap pairs is also a good idea, for you, and there's always the occasional guide/porter who is short a pair in the alpine regions.
