Cheap Business Mobile? or Decent Budget Dual-Sim?

Hey guys,

I just wanted mostly people's thoughts and suggestions.
I'm starting a fairly small home-business and don't really have the budget for a nice Dual Sim phone.

I'm currently carrying a 1st gen Pixel XL and haven't upgraded because the photo quality is still very good and I need that for product photos and such, plus it still runs fairly smoothly to be honest.

However maybe it's old enough that I can find a good budget replacement with similar photo quality as a minimum, but I don't know from experience.

I think if I was to replace my phone full time I'd rather like it, if that makes sense; so perhaps I'm better off with a super cheap phone with long standby battery life, just dump the business sim in it and have it around?

Has anyone got any recommendations? Should I just see if I get lucky on a sale for Pixel 3a?

Any help is really appreciated!

  • Just go a super cheap phone for the business sim. Setup voicemail with the business name. Turn it off outside of business hours. Leave it at work/in your car.

Best to separate home and work imho.

    • Thanks for the advise! I suppose that's a way to get a break but tbh these days it'd be hard with emails and social media and everything else haha.

  • i use a Dual Sim Xaoimi Redmi Note 3. It's been great. When it dies I'd get whatever their latest is. Budget ~AUD400

    • Thank you for the advise, I was eyeing a redmi on the 11.11 sales but didn't pull the trigger. Is yours working okay still for everyday use?

      • Yes, purchased H2 2016 and works fine but lacks storage which is why I would upgrade to 128mb next time. I'll probably change it H1 2020.

OTO, I bought my kids Redmi 4 Pro in Nov 2016.
One died last month without any warning.

The other still works despite being trampled on by some "friends" at school. It's had little use as that daughter would rather pay $900 for an iphone (it's all about "the look").

My only real gripe with the product is the proprietary Xiaomi bloatware installed on the phone that can't be easily deleted. I'm sure somebody more technically minded could install a generic Android OS but I'm not that person.

        • Got it, yeah I dont usually mess around with the os either but it still seems fine. Thank you for the info, and you're right.. it's about the 'status' that apple products give these days. Can't be helped I guess.
