Cheapest Time (and Way) to Get Samsung Galaxy S10

So many factors playing into this decision that I need some advice.

  1. Galaxy S10 512GB is on the Samsung education portal now for $1274 which is a pretty good price.

  2. Black friday is approaching rapidly.

  3. I have a S7 edge I could trade in to Samsung for $100 towards a new phone.

  4. Free Galaxy buds is cool, but deal ends a few days before black friday.

I feel as though I'm not going to be able to combine many of these deals, so what should I aim for. Get it with free buds from the education store now, or wait for black friday, hope it's a better deal (more than $425 discount though? Seems unlikely.) and miss out on the buds.

I'm guessing black friday deals aren't going to be able to combine with the education discount.

Get it now, with education discount and buds.

Wait for black friday and pray it beats the $425 discount, and maybe trade in?

    Do something else.

  • IMO the education discount with buds is a decent deal. There's no doubt Black Friday will have a deal on the S10 Plus but there's no guarantee it's going to beat the current education deal.

  • after playing with my mums A20 no way would I pay that kind of money for a phone. Obviously if you have some special need for extra high performance then you need to spend the cash but I could barley notice the difference between my S9+ and the A20. get an A20 for ~$170 and go on a holiday :)

I have a S7 edge I could trade in to Samsung for $100 towards a new phone.

How much will it fetch in Gumtree?

You can definitely get more than $100 for trade in value if you look around. For example, Mobile Monster will buy a Samsung galaxy s7 edge 32GB in working condition for $180 or $230 if it is in as new condition and you have the complete box.

Using that as a base line you could probably sell it for even more on gumtree or ebay

Telstra variant…unlocked $1099 for 512Gb version with bonus buds

    • What exactly is a Telstra variant?

I assumed it mean it was locked to Telstra but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Why is there a Telstra variant, and why is it cheaper?

  • What did you end up doing??

Ended up snagging an unlocked 512GB S10 from Samsung for $1079 - it was the same price as the 128GB version, plus a Student Edge 20% off discount.

      • Sweeeeeet. Thank you!

I haven't seen a single even remotely compelling Black Friday deal for the S10 regardless of storage configuration. Has anyone seen anything yet?

I've got to admit, I caved and grabbed the Note 10 256 GB Amazon deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/500620) despite:

        • Worse resolution
        • No SD card slot
        • No headphone jack

On the plus side, it does have:

        • Better camera
        • Larger battery
        • 256GB on board
