eBay Gift Card Refunds - How Long Does It Take?

Hi guys hopefully someone has experience with this but recently had a refund for a purchase of $50 using a $100 ebay gift card, with a balance remaining of $50.

3 days later still no refund to the gift card?

Spent over an hour with PayPal & eBay who don’t know where its gone? Their response is for me to continue to wait? Ive checked on eBay forums and this looks to be a common issue with gift card refunds which is concerning.

Has anyone else had a refund from a eBay gift card and how long does it take to go back on the original purchase card?

    A few weeks back, a refund to a gift card went through instantly for me.

    when it's instant, it's instant.

    when it's (profanity) up, it'll take weeks/months/years. You might be able to get some goodwill credit from ebay, if you hassle them enough.

    No didn’t use PayPal, just the $100 eBay gift card. The refund email from PayPal just shows

    Thats all no number? When I questioned PayPal they advised its an eBay issue, eBay are saying follow up with PayPal….as I used a gift card there is no transaction history in PayPal.

      Yes I had the same issue, even you didn't use PayPal they force it through PayPal and then the refund gone no where. Is case opened on the item at all to get the refund?

      I was a long journey to get my money back

    As salmon123 indicated looks like I'm in for a long wait - will definitely reconsider using gift cards in future, especially without funding a portion from PayPal.

    I've had this happen once. eBay Rep told me it could take up to 7 days. It took less than that iirc.
    Most of the time it's instant

    About 4 to 7 days from memory. Definitely not instant because I remember being in your shoes.
