Ten year old me would've loved this as a prezzie.
I dont know, when we had hot wheels cars the wheels would often bend, whereas Majorette and Matchbox cars wheels were more robust.
But 50 cars!
In all honesty though I think I went back and forth. I grew up loving Matchbox cars which felt better quality and more interesting (eg garbage truck with working garbage pusher, hotdog car, etc) but then Hot Wheels ended up having more "real" cars and I ended up buying all the cars I liked once I was earning a (small) salary and kept them in their original packaging (eg R35 GTR, Evo X, etc). Come to think of it, I still have various first edition cars somewhere in my parents' house….
