Budget Case with 2 Fans

need one in front and 1 in back. did some googling and the suggested cases were not for sale in australia. if theres only a back fan the inside of computer will get more dusty than if there was a front fan right?

  • The rear fan will an exhaust to let the hot air out, a front fan would bring in fresh air from outside the case. Ideally you want your air to flow in from the bottom and front and out through the top and rear of the case, if anything an intake would cause more dust but you can get filters to stop dust particles from entering the case.

    • intake cause more dust? if there's no intake air is coming from all the cracks and there's no filter on the cracks, whereas for intake there is a filter, so shouldnt intake fan reduce dust? pc wont need good cooling anyway, not for gaming, just afraid of dust cleaning.

      • Yes that's right but it's like a vacuum, the dust will be actively pulled in through the intakes and you'd expect more dust around the entrance and in the path of the intakes, I believe filtered intakes would have less dust inside the case than no intakes, but intakes without filters would cause more dust than no intakes.

        • Yeh the fan exhausting will cause a negative pressure inside the case, which will be lower than atmospheric pressure. The air and the dust must flow into the case from somewhere either cracks or an intake fan otherwise the fan would stall and physics would be broken.

  • Just FYI your power supply has a fan too, and depending on the way that it's oriented it can be counted as an additional fan for the case. https://blog.nzxt.com/which-way-should-a-psu-fan-point/

  • Are we being taken for a ride by Gerry Harvey?

    • you can see from this thread im tight with money. so next time u ask me for a sale or whine about my shops being overpriced, remember this thread. dont like my prices take ur business somewhere else.

  • No one's actually answered your question. Most cases have slots for fans even if they only come installed with one. Case fans start at ~$5 so buy the case you want and add fans to your heart's content.
