Xiaomi Air Filter 2S Model - How Long Is It Meant to Last?

Hello,

Recently bought my Xiaomi Air Purifier 2S model and came with existing filter less than a week ago. I have been running it the last couple of days not longer than an hour or so per day with the major exception of last night where I ran it between 4am-9am (bush fire haze) non stop and its already showing me 65% left. I thought the filters meant to last at least 2-3months. The reading in my living room hit 210 this morning with all windows closed.
Is there something wrong with my device? What are your experiences?

  • 210 wow mine always around 1 or 2 or 5 max (this was early 2019) so I gave it away to brother in law

    • Yes it normally is the same at my home. But this morning it was 104 in bedroom and 210 in living room. No windows opened the whole night. This is obviously due to bushfires, I have seen NSW Region AQI come to over 1000 today.

  • What was your filter usage % when you got it? If you have used 35% in 2 weeks, then it sounds used to me.

What is the app saying its life span estimate is? Mine is saying 78% remaining, estimated lifespan is 114 more days.

So that puts mine at around 146 days or nearly 5 months.

    • Where can i check the life span estimate?
I only got the device 4 days ago. So maybe 1hr x 3 days plus the 4am-9am use this morning. That is nowhere near 2 weeks usage.
It used to say 99% when i started it up few days ago. Now it says temp, 65%, and a red line underneath.
Bought it via ebay plus deal as well if that makes a difference

      • Where can i check the life span estimate?

Right there in the app… were you see its usage ;)

Are you sure you'll looking at the right figure? Post a screenshot.

        • They might just be looking at the on device screen.

Sagrules, if you get the mihome app for your phone it will have more detail

          • @salem: Well I did say app but yes they could be looking at the front panel.

            • @JimmyF: Yes, sorry guys I am looking at the front panel. Haven't downloaded the app yet. Like I said only had the item about 4 days.

              • @sagrules: then get the app ASAP!

                • @JimmyF: Turns out I already have the app due to having previous xiaomi product at home. However, I cannot seem to connect to the air purifier to modify any of the settings. I would like to disable the beep sound on turn on and off as it wakes up my partner if i turn it on during early morning. Anyone know how to
                  a) connect to wifi
                  b) disable beep on/off sound

                  • @sagrules: What server are you on? Try adding it via the China server.

                    • @JimmyF: Yes am on the China server as that is the issue i had with my other xiaomi appliance.

                      • @sagrules: the mi air purifier i bought off gearbite on ebay (with front LCD screen) only worked with Australian server. My old purifier with no screen only works on the china server. Luckily I have a Mi Phone and miui lets you run 'dual apps' so I have two instances of the app, one on each region.

    • I assume you're only seeing the percentage remaining and calculating the days by yourself right?

I only have percentage shown in the app.

  • +4

Are you sure you aren't looking at the humidity percentage?

    • Could be I didn't know that was an option

While we are talking about filters can anyone recommend a cheap replacement? I see Aliexpress has generics pretty cheap but I wonder if they are any good. Thanks!

    • i'm interested as well

  • +1

My filter lasted 3 months and have been complaining ever since. When you factor in 4 filters an year, it adds up rather quickly. No such problem with my Dyson.

    • I haven't used the Xiaomi one but the Dyson air purification is definitely not as powerful as say a conventional Sharp Air Purifier. I also found the Sharp models easy to clean since I can just vacuum the dust filter layer component too.
