Old Trusty Hoover Clothes Dryer No Longer Heating

Or faithful 20 year old Hoover clothes dryer has stopped heading. Everything else seems to still work, it's just not heading the air.

It's well overdue for a replacement anyway, but was wondering if this could be a straightforward/cheap fix? We try to use it as little at possible, usually just a few times a year when it has been raining for a long time or is very Smoky like recently, so a brand new one is a bit of an investment that would still there unused most of the time.

    Heading?
It’s normally the element, $20 if your handy plenty of YouTube videos

  • Heading???

    Noun
A title at the head of a page or section of a book
A main division, such as of a speech
A directed quantity, one with both magnitude and direction.

    Maybe heating?

If you have a reliable dryer, i urge you to fix it.
New dryers are either full of circuit boards that fail from heat after a few years, or are made from super cheap parts that fail from modest use.

Older Aussie made whitegoods tend to last longer, and have spare parts readily available. Replacing almost any part of an older dryer is very easy, as they were made with serviceability in mind, and parts are available online.

Whoops, old trusty eyes no longer reading…

    Fixed

  • Yep, pretty easy fix. Likely to be the thermostat or thermal cutoff switch. Both 50c parts

  • We had a clothes dryer that did that. We went along to a repair place, got a new element and it was pretty easy to just replace the part. You would need to be pretty sure that is the issue and you will need to find someone with the part. As others have said, try to find a You Tube video that shows you how to do it.

  • If parts for it are cheap,
I would replace everything that could be at fault,
so it will be like a new dryer again

  • Pull it apart and check the element with a multi-meter or a battery/bulb.

    They are really simple machines
