Ugly, no name brand watch with an unlisted Chinese movement

    How is this a deal

    • -4

I know, I almost didnt post it bc I was did know the brand. But it seems to sell online for $800 plus at a few reputable vendors outside of Australia.

Thanks for your feedback tho and please make sure to vote this deal down if you feel its that bad of a deal.

Nah for me to neg a deal it has to be an outright scam / clearly cheaper elsewhere etc. I just don't see the appeal of this one.

  • Fair enough.

I'd beware of these watch brands that utilise British-sounding names to give themselves a false air of legitimacy (can't find much about this watch brand).

Brief search on online watch retailers (ie watches2u.com) shows an overinflated RRP with a significant markdown to pitch their sales

    E.g.
Thomas Earnshaw Mens Grand Calendar Black Leather Strap Watch ES-8043-02

Thomas Earnshaw Mens Grand Calender Brown Leather Strap Watch ES-8046-04 is a rather fancy looking watch though!

If you're seriously looking for decent (albeit 'fashion') watches, look into skeletonised Fossil, Armani Exchange, and Rotary (has some heritage) watches. You can often find them for around this price point or cheaper at respectable online watch dealers (skywatches, jomashop etc.)

    Fossil Mens Flynn Watch BQ2383

Armani Exchange Mens Urban Watch AX1418

Rotary Mens Les Originales Jura Automatic Skeleton Rose Gold Watch GS90511-21

If you're new to the hobby, enjoy the learning curve but be prepared to spend!

not clear if this is a deal, doesnt state what price before

  • It's a discount on heavily inflated price. You can get the same or similar one in China for around $100. Sorry, op, but you r too naive in the watch world. RRP on watch is a joke. I get 40% off on Patek Philippe once and 60% off on a mont blanc watch and the sale throw in a fountain pen for free.

40% off Patek ?? which retailer or how long ago was that once.

      • +4

He picked it up at a market in bali ;-)

        • Definitely ;-)

It was just 3 years ago at hour glass in Melbourne. Not a very popular model for sure. Some Patek they don't do discounts at all. Some they do it for 10-20% off before getting your GST back. So 40% off RRP is not that crazy. But since Oz dollar is weak now I haven't really bought any luxury watch in Australia for 2 years.

        • 20% off a non-popular model sounds about right before TRS.

    mushroom brand…
you may well buy a Seagull, which is the most reputable chinese watchmaker, most components are made with swiss machinery

17 Jewel means it's a manual wind, nothing about the power reserve.

    Genuine Leather (?) questionable

50m of water resistance? i would not go swim with a mechanical watch unless it's a rolex oyster sub

Just search for "skeleton automatic watch" in alibaba and go for your life (they start from about $10 USD).
