Request: "Back to Top" Arrow for the Deals Pages

Hey mods/owners,

Long time user and love (almost) everything about the site.

Just wondering, is there any chance we can get a "Back To Top" arrow, bottom right of screen, in the Deals pages? Something like they have on eBay scrolling pages.

Not a biggy but given the length some of deals pages get when catching up on lots of deals, would be a nice to have.

Cheers and thanks.

    • Preference towards the floating type that pops out and sticks to the bottom of the scroll bar.

(Sorry, at work and unable to upload to imgur)

      • The comment bar sticks at the bottom of the page when you scroll through the comment section. However it's only on individual post pages (i.e. not on Deals page) so won't resolve your issue.

On desktop, pressing [Home] key would bring to the top of the page. I wonder why mobile browsers don't have anything similar as most mobile pages are scrolling-heavy.

Do you have a Home key on your keyboard?

    • On laptop and tablet keyboards Home keys often require multi key presses to activate, (ie Function + other). Mobile devices also don't have a keyboard at the ready and more effort to bring up than just clicking one screen button.

Just making a suggestion for a possible improvement.

Having a sticky header is trivial. However the reason why we haven't implemented is that there are many places where we drop to a specific anchor point in a web page, for example jump to a specific comment by adding '#comment-<some number>' to the URL. The browser will then scroll the page to have that comment at the top of the page. However in the case of having a sticky header, the first few lines would be blocked by that header, making it look very confusing.

That's the reason why we haven't done it.

Obviously there are a few ways to get around that. For example installing an onload function to automatically scroll up a few pixels so the top of the anchor is right below the header. Or only show the sticky header when you are scrolling up. Maybe we'll get around to that sometime in the futureā€¦
