Looking for The Best TV (55 Inches) around 1000 to 1200 for Gaming and Netlifx/YouTube

Hi All,

As black Friday is close by, I would like some guidance as to what could be a great TV (55 inches) around the 1k mark for my main purpose as a display for Xbox one X and steaming services such as YouTube and Netflix, hence the preference would be a smart tv.

My living room have some large windows on the side hence glare would be a concern.

So far, I have seen the following from recent posts

Hisense OLED P55x
LG 55SM8600

Seen some posts that OLED is not suitable for gaming, hence the hesitation on the Hisense.

Wondering if you guys have other suggestions among other well known brands such as Samsung and Sony.

Thanks in advance

  • I have the same scenario as yours and glare is my biggest problem too. I use netflix the most and few youtube streaming. I am average xbox gamer but i normally game a lot
I have been using samsung 55 ku9500 model (i guess) since one year never noticed any problem. I would suggest get one if u ask me.
    Cheers

  • When researching mine a couple years ago, I used RTings and Digital Foundry recommendations. They often recommend a "best for price" TV.

Highly recommend you research TV's with good HDR too, as some games on the X look incredible with great HDR!

Ultimately you want to find a TV with features that match what you're after, then research sellers and price watch. Also watch Ebay like a hawk as you can sometimes get 10-20% off with codes (I got my Sony x9000e when there was a country-wide price drop for the model, and BingLee had a single day left with a 20% off code on Ebay - got it for about $600 cheaper).

  • Thanks all, the Sony X95G (x9500g) was back in stock, although it was a bit higher than my budget at $1300, however considering the price is inclusive of delivery, I ended up biting the bullet.

  • Hey NeverPayRRP9930,

How are you finding the x9500G. I am in a similar boat to you, same use, same budget. I've been tossing up between:

    Samsung ru8000
    Samsung Q60R
    Sony x9500G.

According to RTings, ru8000 and q60R are pretty much the same, but the sony blows both out the water - However it is $300-400 more (if I get it on sale like you did). Thoughts?

And do you use any sound bar / system.

    Thanks in advance mate!

    • Recently purchased new LG 65"SM8600 $1200 delivered from Video Pro.
Previous 32" Samsung failed after 6 yrs.
Felt uncomfortable purchasing a damaged box or refurbished Sony with 12 months warranty, even though some comments appear positive.
