Instructions for those that will vote negative because I didn't post detailed instructions on how to request pricematch:

I have provided a recent July 2011 receipt. Print it out
Bring it to JB (or any other store that will price match).
Say: "My friend got it at this price, can you do match it/give me a price close to it?"
They override their normal $100+ price
You pay.

Now I understand why OzBargain requires more than 10 words before it accepts a post.

price matched at jb
I took a 6month old officeworks receipt and asked JB to pricematch. Only tried 1 store so I don't see why it wont work at other stores?
The value in this is that it is a new July 2011 receipt

Comments

  • Good post…kinda…

  • How did you price match? Never tried it before.

  • would they be willing to price match with such an old receipt, it appears dated 03/07/11 (well thats the only date I can see on it), or is that still considered recent?

  • +1

    :p

  • Any difference between Live and Live HD?

    • the… HD :)

(i think it's the same model)

  • I swear that said $27 before ;P
Or am I just being dyslexica

  • That's great for you.. but how are we supposed to get that? Who did you price match against?

    • From experience, JB will price match themselves

        right…
this one is lame lame lame

  • pricematched who? where? how?
    No help!!!!

  • Price matched against whom? A month ago?

  • Price matched almost a month ago!?

    • -1

      They won't… They'll call to verify price…

  • Looks like he price matched with a 28 day old receipt… And if it worked for him then why not?

    • +1

i doubt it would work at most places…

i don't think it's a bargain if you have to go search out the 1 store in 10 to find a staff member that doesn't follow their policy properly…

  • Why negative it? I have the receipt just print it out and bring it to JB and they will honour it?

    • -1

Does JB still sell it for $72? If not, this is an expired deal…

      price match isn't a bargain, it's a store policy.

is the deal still on at jb for $72? if so I'll remove my -ve. If not, you are posting an expired deal.

  • ^^Thank you.

  • I have posted a receipt for $72 so others can get it. cheapest listed price in the market is ~$96 for OW. So how is this not a bargain?

Without this receipt people won't be able to get it for this price

    • So how is this not a bargain?

      It's not an advertised price…
      If so, provide a link

"However, if you happen to find a cheaper advertised price on a stocked item even if it's on sale, we will not only match it, we'll beat it by 5% for bringing it to our attention."

      http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/content/Lowest-price-gu…

  • Bring it to JB (or any other store that will price match).

jb are selling it for $108
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/computer-ac…

why would they beat their own price ???

other stores will check the price… $72 would probably be less than wholesale…

  • Let's just let others who are looking to buy a WD TV Live (which is awesome btw and can easily replace a HTPC, this is coming from a HTPC veteran) post back their experiences

You can just buy at $108

    • You can just buy at $108

      ow sell it for $96

  • Also, Ozbargain posting rules

"Do not lead bargain with price matched price. Use the offered price, then you are welcome to remind people that you can get a price match. Price matching is a bonus."

Wow, people get so friggin angry on this site. Chill, the dude was trying to help!

    • +2

It's cause OP didn't write for us to go easy on him/her for their 1st post. They invited the hostility upon themselves…

Not sure if this is technically a bargain, but I can vouch for the product. It's great for streaming videos, have had no issues.

      • yep, great product… I have had the WD Live though freeze on some MKVs on a few occassions… These same MKV file play fine on a PC and on my Popcorn Hour…

Wow, people get so friggin angry on this site.

I can't see anyone getting angry… Just people posting comments and opinions… That's what this site is for…

Unless you think posting at "-ve" implies you are angry ???????

Fact is, you are not allowed to post a 'Price match' as a deal according to the Ozbargain Rules, that is reason for the "-ve" votes… If this was advertised somewhere for $72, would probably have 300 +'s by now…

  • This is akin to a hack - not necessarily wrong - a personal choice, but its isn't a bargain directly offered by a store ie depends on store policy and staff member, so its more appropriate for the forums.

  • Bought this off JB yesterday. They would only bring it down to $90 for me.
Didn't realise it had SAMBA file support. Pretty cool and the apps are nice.

  • Here's an up to date receipt (3 days ago) for the same price…
