What Jerky Is The Closest to Geronimo?

After everything that has happened with Geronimo Jerky I have been trying to find a good replacement in stores but nothing has really come close.

I prefer that really dry and tough jerky, not the softer, chewier type.

What jerky do you all think is the closest to Geronimo Jerky? Or recommendations of jerkies to try in general.

    Best jerky I've ever had.
    $77/kg from memory.

    • Thanks. Looks good but shipping is a bit rough when I just want some smaller packs.

  • I haven't had it in a fair while but I used to be addicted to Territory jerky. It was, at least back then, the "snap off a piece" kind of jerky.

    • A bit pricey but looks good, will have to try their sampler pack. :-)

  • +1

Silvers is really good. Though my preference is always Biltong To Go.

    • Biltong.com.au is my go to ATM, I think it tastes way better than Geronimo. Although it isn't as dry

      • At least with Biltong they'll let you choose how dry you want it. The last lot of Geronimo I had was so dry and hard I could have built a bridge with enough of it.

        • Yeah so many options with Biltong its great. Geronimo is WAY too dry for my liking anyway, I think jerkey is traditionally more dry than biltong. If you want the 'snap' get some stokkies, they are my fav but just a little more expensive then sliced biltong.

  • I second Silver's, it is nice and dry without being overly chewy. Kind of dry and tender if that makes sense. No 1kg bags though, which is massively disappointing.

Jim's jerky is also good, slightly cheaper than silvers.

Biltong to go is cheaper, but I think the flavour is much more simple, and less enjoyable, than the above recommendations. Start here if you want value for money though.

My favourite as at the moment is http://www.biltongman.com.au/store/37/bulk-biltong
Salt and vinegar is awesome, 31.50 500g is pretty cheap.

Swagmans is also worth trying. Originals hd smokey were both tasty.

What are you looking for in jerky? Leather tough, soft, chewy, no artificial flavours, cheap?

If you just want a high protein snack, I just eat heaps of prosciutto these days. Might be higher in fat than you're looking for though.

  • I only eat Swagmans….Smokey or Chilli…nice and dry…
