  • Are these all exclusive wines by exclusive wineries? How will I know it's good?

    • All of our wines are sourced from the wineries that provide them to us. Kilikanoon is a very well respected brand in the Clare Valley. Martins Vineyard is made by Curtis Family Wines in McLaren Vale. StoneHouse primarily used to export their wines, locally most wine they make are under their Curator Label, but they offered us the Stonehouse. Through the Tasting Glass 'Cheshire Cat' Shiraz was a limited bottling run from Andrew Hardy that we tasted and thought was well good enough to offer people. I agree it is tricky trusting people's recommendations, but in the world of online shopping, that is the way it goes. We have got a wine goodness guarantee though if you are not happy with the quality of the wine.

What BS. The wines have a made up RRP so people will think they have a massive deal.
The martins is on sale qantas and DM for $90
the stonehouse seems to be an exclusive which a fake RRP .

    • All wines have a made up RRP, there isn't a governing body that decides it. The winery makes the RRP based on how they feel the quality of their wines stack up to others in the market.

Yes but some of these wines are not on sale for the RRP only the discounted price to inflate the % discount. Pretty dodgy practice.
We can see through this bad marketing technique

        • You are most welcome to your opinion, that is the beauty of open forum. If the wine were to be listed at $23 a bottle and sold at $20 a bottle, the complaint would be that there is not enough of a discount to make it attractive. You can't please everyone. The wine is fantastic having tried it several times. I would gladly pay the retail value for these wines if I had to. The lucky thing is, you don't. If you don't think it is a good deal at $295 for 13 bottles, then I'm sorry it doesn't appeal to you. I'm more than happy to speak about this more if you'd like.

  • Hmmmm. The RRPs do seem a bit high at $150, but lots of wineries have offerings at that price point. I live in the Margaret River wine region and the cellar doors usually have some super pricey reserve bottles. To pay that much though they'd have to be unforgettably good (and often are, from well known wineries). $45-$55 a bottle isn't unreasonable, but they'd need to be pretty special too.

Here's a review of the Martins Vineyard wine:

Seems to be a great wine for the sale price, if not the RRP.

  • I am guessing we can stack with amex offer?

I have been buying wine from Dan at winedirect for a few years and have not had a dud.

Yes, the rrp are absolute nonsense which I would never pay but you will find outlets chasing those prices.

Ignore the "savings" and look at what you get per bottle.

I have drunk the Kilkanoon and Martins Vineyard and at the average bottle price they are good buying. I can't comment on the other two.

Check out their other bundle offers if this one does not appeal.

    • Thanks for the kind words GRP. Flick me an email and I'll throw you in a free bottle with your next order as a thank you :)

        Oh Winedirect are great!

Can I get a free bottle too now?

I admire the effort, but if I bow to one lot of pressure, then I have to do it for everyone. The first person to go to bat for me without prompting is definitely worth rewarding :)
