Can anybody make help with recommendations for an off road Touring style trip, I am strapped for ideas, due to the short preparation time and leaving this so late. Noting the below requirements there are some limitations.

A boys trip 4x4 touring, happy to do tough tracks that require winching and recovery, only to get to great locations though not for the sake of just doing challenging tracks.
- Accommodation:
Bush Camping (self sufficient). Happy to do paid campsites but need flexible arrangements so prefer no pre booking - will be hard over Christmas period.
- Max KM per day:
Approx - 600km Highway or 100km Off road
- Locations already been and prefer not to re-do:
Victorian High Country, Fraser Island, Moreton Island, Simpson Desert, Great Ocean Road
- Time of year:
Christmas and New Years
- Places I think are possible but will need to research more:
Flinders Ranges - may be a tad too far?
Corner Country to Broken Hill - dangerously hot in December?
You could do SE QLD:
Coffs/Byron - Rainbow Beach/Poona/Woodgate Beach/Kinkuna Beach - return. Plenty of good camping and 4wd areas there with awesome beaches and fishing. Might need to be a bit flexible though to find site availability for that time of year.
