Amazingly cheap and an excellent game. It doesn't matter if you haven't played the others, this one is somewhat of a new story line.

    Edit:

This sale also includes a bunch of other games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted, etc.

  • get the original cover.

    Greatest Hits label is ugly.

    • The original is out of stock but the Greatest Hits one is still in stock.

      • Greatest hits is a slap in the face to collectors. It's a reminder that you were too cheap to buy it when it was still current. In other words it's anti-OzB.

        • What's the resale value of collectible PS4 games?

          • @tensionday: Depends on the condition, whether it's a limited edition, how old it is (older games are worth a lot more), and the rarity. Niche games are worth more because fewer people will have them.

I don't buy games to resell, but I have a pile of shame of unopened games (I don't open them until I decide to play them). Some day if I want to resell them they will be worth a lot more than if they were opened. Anything that's LE, I pretty much buy it without a second thought. Just in case. Because if I want to buy it later, the opportunity won't be there. By having it, I ensure I don't have to pay a scalper for it. And if I decide I never want to play it, I can still get rid of it for more than I paid.

But for God of War, I don't expect it to be worth a huge amount to a collector. It's a game that sold well, so it's likely they already have a copy. Still, an unopened original label will be worth a lot more than an unopened Greatest Hits game.

If you're buying this game to play it, then the only value is whether you care how it looks on your shelf having a red label while everything else doesn't. To me, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

            • @lostn: Long-term investment? Sometimes games flop and collector editions are sold at a quarter of the original price. In guess you lose a lot of money from buying it when it first released yeah?

              • @HandsomeMonkey: the quality of the games does not matter to a collector. They aren't going to be playing them. If they play it, they will purchase a second copy digitally.

It's all about rarity. And if the game flops, it's worth even more because it will have an even more limited printing run.

I have a copy of MW2 with the night vision goggles. It cost about $300 at launch, but you can easily sell it for a few thousand now if it's unopened.

                • @lostn: No shit? Awesome. Anyway thanks for the info. I don't think I have the money or time to invest in anything like that. I only buy games when its cheap and worth playing.

                  • @HandsomeMonkey: Here's how much sealed original copies (no Greatest Hits labels) of Kingdom Hearts on PS2 is worth. These are not even collectors or limited editions. Just standard covers but original print.

                    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kingdom-Hearts-Re-Chain-of-Memor…

These games have been remastered for every system under the sun, and I would not recommend playing the PS2 version over any other version, but the value for original label games to a collector cannot be understated.

If your copy has a budget label like Greatest Hits or Platinum, it's worth no more than $10 even if it's unopened. A collector doesn't want them.

My stash is easily worth more than my brand new car.

Anyway, none of that is really relevant to God of War. All I'm saying is, get an original label if you can for the same price. It will have higher resell value even if it's Used. And if you never get around to playing it, a sealed copy can be flipped later for good money.
