Gaming Monitor on a Budget; Refresh Rate Vs Hz, Same Thing?

Looking for a budget gaming monitor for my 13 year old, at the moment he is using a really old 32inch tv as his usual tv broke down. I’m thinking what’s important is refresh rate and/or hz so is this suitable? https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/25plus-inch/770… Thought at this price it might not be that good comparing refresh rates to screen size. It’s $299 31.5” 144hz and 4ms gtg

Hertz is a unit of measurement for refresh rate. The higher the better. So yes, the same thing basically.

Response time is another thing — it's measured in milliseconds and indicates how quickly the pixel changes colour (the lower the better).

144hz hertz is considered a high refresh rate and 4ms response time is considered average.

  • Go for better resolution if u can for that size.

  • ^ yep, at least 27"

  • Like Scrimshaw said, it's pretty much the same thing. That monitor would be fine for him, 144hz is one of the most common refresh rates as it's higher than the usual 60 and better value than 200hz+ options which have diminishing returns. Try and get a 27" if you can but honestly that would be fine for him.
