Purchased on PC. Why the hell not, $4? Easy as.

    • What is the download size?

      • +1

From memory it was around 55GB

  • Any single player content?

    • +1

It focuses on doing team content but you can do the campaign solo, with friends for search for random teammates. You can also run around doing the open world stuff solo if you want.

    • -1

I played the story single player. Was ok.

    • +1

I believe you need to be online at all times. There is no offline content. You can play solo but still need to maintain a connection to their servers.

Edit - you also need PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold!

      • +3

        How crappy

      • +2

If it needs a Live Gold sub or PS Plus sub to run at all times then it should be free.

  • +1

Single player stuff for $4 sounds alright. Bought.

  • +6

Probably still not worth it at $4

  • +3

Grabbed it. Hopefully I get a free upgrade to Anthem Next.

  • -2

Oh they're paying US $4 to take it off their hands? Great deal!!!

  • -2

Bought PC for $4. That's about all it's worth lol.

  • I'm gonna put my faith in Bioware to fix this game with anthem 2.0, bought a copy.

  • +1

Bought a copy on PC. Thanks :)

  • -1

Aren't there rumours it will be going free-to-play soon?

    • -1

Doubt it - they might pull a No Man's Sky

    • even if it goes chuck a destiny 2 and go F2P

they will content lock stuff behind pay wall to which original paying folks should have access to

  • -4

i wouldnt play this game if they payed me anything less than $25/h. time=money.

  • +3

I still don't understand the incredibly harsh opinions in regards to this game. I've gotten 150 plus hours of enjoyable playtime from it (a lot of this was spent playing online with friends). For 4 dollars it's definitely worth it imo.

    • -3

So… repeating the same content for 140 hours?

      • +2

The storyline I found to be quite enjoyable, though too short. And part of it was repetitive, yes. But that's the idea behind a lot of grinding for loot games is it not?

The combat happens to be a lot of fun for a good while before it gets mind numbing.

Edit: I can't speak for the quality in xbox and ps4, but the graphics of the world are also beautiful.

        • Also it's much better now than it was at launch, though it could have been better. They abandoned some of the post launch content after the horrible launch.

I just wish Andromeda had ANY post launch content.

          • +1

@King Steuart: Right? Andromeda was a solid game and I don't understand the hate for it either. So annoying that all the hate caused us to miss out on the dlc to complete the story.

            • +2

@AgentInky: Its a shame that games have become all about DLCs, previously all the game content was available in the game you purchased till the sequel a few years later.

              • @lonewolf: Mass effect 1 2 and 3 all had story DLC 🤦‍♂️

                • @King Steuart: when people think Mass Effect were the first games around 🤦. Been gaming since 84, DLCs are a relatively new thing and initially a decent idea if only There was one DLC released in a years time with a lot of new content for the game. But whats happened now is DLCs are being released for the minute additions and some games have 10+ DLCs being released and its become just a money making scheme where they intentionally leave out a lot of items that the game could have and would have had and instead plan on releasing it later as a DLC.

This also means instead of the next release being a sequel on a new engine / new graphics, major changes to the game, the DLCs are all just the same engine etc with small additions. Some DLCs are pretty decent value i think still but others are not.

              • @lonewolf: I’ll agree with that to some extend but before digital downloads and DLCs, games used to be filled with unfinished content and you could sometimes find their abandoned worlds/maps/assets etc.

  • +3

Playing this game right now and it is so boring most of the time. There is so much decent mechanics to the game that makes it fun to play yet they shove this boring story line down your throat constantly. The story and world is too complicated and annoying, when at the start you are simply trying to master the mechanics that arent so familiar in other shooters. every step you walk there is a voice over or pop up trying to teach you something more about the game or story, I am a few hours in and this is still happening. When actually being left to fly about and kill things it is quite fun and satisfying, just a shame the game is such a mess and doesnt develop any reason to care about the characters.

    • Thanks for the detailed informal review!

    • +1

You can skip the movies if you are not interested in watching them.
The gameplay is awesome fun, i loved it.

    • Agreed. I was literally falling asleep playing this game. The mechanics are fun for a while, and the visuals are sensational, but 95% of your game time is spent navigating the stupid Citadel talking to people, and waiting for all the loading…. So much loading.

    • Agree with this 100%. Story was uninteresting and for the most part I would rather not have it there at all. Flying around killing stuff and collecting loot however was great fun and lasted me for a good 4-5 weeks. No-brainer at $4.

  • +7

Lol I might get it for $2, $4 is too much for this game

  • Has anyone received the email from JB regarding confirmation of pickup as yet?

    • Nope but I'm guessing it's a pretty busy day for them
      EDIT: just got the email

    • Didn't get an email confirmation either. It's in my order history though

  • Bought on PS4. It can go in the drawer with other bargain titles I've played for a total of 3 minutes like South Park FBW

  • Anyone know if they email you the PC code? Not bothered to go in store for a download code

    • JB never do digital downloads, it'll be an empty box with a code inside

  • -4

Not worth it. You won't play it.

  • -3

    Still $5 too expensive

  • +2

The hate band wagon so many people are STILL on regarding this game is utterly ridiculous.
Bought it for about $20, played for about 20 hours, gameplay is awesome, graphics are incredible, had a fun time.
Yes the story fails to make you care about the characters or their motivations, but honestly, that is most games, and if you are really bothered by it, you can just press a button to skip the cutscenes.

    • Did you play it at launch or after they revised things and improved it?

      • I played it at launch and agree with what was said. Except for the long load times the game was pretty decent. The javelins were honestly really fun to play and fly around with friends.

It was flawed and suffered from your obvious looter shooter grind but it wasn’t as bad as the hate mob made it out to be. In a perfect world I would want to combine Anthem and Destiny together.

  • +1

I can't work out what sort of game this is. Open world = MMO? Shooter or RPG? Explore or just walk from battle to battle?

Can anyone compare it to another game for reference?

    • MMORPG shooter. I'm gonna say close to destiny in terms of mechanics?

      • +2

It's an MMO in the same way that Diablo 3 is an MMO. You only ever party with 3 other people.
        Destiny mechanics is bang on.
I can't think of any other game exactly like it, but I'd describe it as a 3rd person (OTS) looter, with a bad story and crappy loot. Visually it's stunning though, and the gameplay is fun for a few hours.

  • For $4 it's worth a punt. Thanks OP.

  • LOL 4$

  • +1

It's actually a decent game, maybe it didn't live up to the huge expectations, but it was good. Totalllllly worth it for $4. It's a no brainer.

  • Just download Warframe, it's free and better.

  • +2

Waiting for Amazon price match so I don't need to leave the house.

    • Did anyone else buy click and collect and not get a confirmation of order?

    • +2

100000000000000%. Need me some free PRIME delivery :)

  • Bought. Cause $4.

  • 4 dollars for a ticket aboard this train wreck?

    Done.

  • Thanks.

  • +1

This game is $4 for a reason

  • At that price, i bought it. Not really happy about it lmao but i did get a copy.

  • +1

Don't forget there is always the possibility of a 'No Man's Sky effect'.

    • +1

There is also a possibility that the world might end tomorrow

    • +1

I hope not. The thing i hate about these Games as a live service games is that it ties up the developers onto one thing for 5-10 years. Same thing wiht Rare and Sea of Thieves, i want these games to fail miserably cos if they dont, all those devs are ever gonna do is work on these service games and make nothing new since it's recurrent income. I'd much prefer more mass effect / dragon age - and i really wanted Rare working on new games rather than getting shafted with a service game for 10 years.

Thankfully, 99% of these service games are failures and hopefully publishers will start to realise that.

      • +1

Bad news: Rare's next game is Sea of Thieves with animals.

        • yeah pretty much every game MS showed at XO was a game as a service, in fact i was watching it and about three-quarters through commented on the mixer stream: every single game so far is a GaaS… great… not a solitary single player game at that stage.

  • +1

I'll wait until Target do a clearance for $2. Have a backlog to clear first anyway.

  • I seen that this game actually bricks some PS4s!? I'm not interested in it but I thought I'd put it out there.

    • No PS4s have been bricked. It was extremely poorly optimised at launch and caused crashes and overheating for some but that doesn’t brick your PS4. Worst case, if you continually play and crash over and over then it might have corrupted your hard drive but that’s sort of a common sense, stop doing that, sort of situation.

  • Got one, thanks for sharing

  • Lol. At this price, I bought 5 copies. Secret Santa sorted for the office!!

    • For the sake of your colleagues and your job security I really hope you aren't serious 😂

  • Is this game first or third person?

  • -2

This game is honestly trash, especially after all the marketing type they did for it…such a disappointment.

Please for the love of god don't play this game.

  • On Amazon US, it is $12 USD for a digital download version, and it is listed as being 80% off. $4 AUD + a little for shipping is a genuine bargain.
