Bought it like a week ago and received it already so must have a Australian warehouse?

409.something aka 410 AUD with shipping to Perth for all of it. Considering the price of the HTC Vive Pro
which is just better for tracking, This is an amazing deal.

It's pretty sweet however a bit blurry on my GTX 970 compared to my monitor and Tv, then again I probably need to adjust it better since got it only hours ago, so take that info into consideration.
Edit: to make it look better you need to Change Resolution in SteamVR "Supersampling"

Got one coming from Amazon for $10 more.
Heard good things for the price…

  • Is it worth buying to upgrade from the original HTC Vive?

I bought this from Amazon US sale last March on release, if you already have first Gen HTC Vive, the resolution improvement is noticeable and tracking is amazingly accurate.

Only worth the upgrade if you will sell your old set.

  • Great headset.

People highly recommend pairing this with a VR cover by the way, which are also on sale at the moment:
    https://vrcover.com/product/samsung-odyssey-plus-replacement…

(They come in packs of 2 and I've ordered one, so if anyone in the eastern Melbourne suburbs wants to split it, send me a pm)

    • Already got the cover and headstrap on order…. Along with a stand and case for it all…. Overkill maybe. Oh well.

    • I have the Odyssey+ vrcover, and while I don't hate it, it's not really as "must-have" as others seem to think it is. About the only noticeable improvement I find is that the fake leather is easy to wipe dry and doesn't soak up sweat like the original cover. So for me, it's utility is only really there if you don't have aircon or are using it for exercise e.g. beat saber.

Even their slowest shipping option only takes around 3-4 days generally.

  • How do these compare to things like Quest and Rift S?

    • Headset is better in pretty much every way, controllers not quite as good but good enough. You can always buy some Index controllers later on when they are available, which are a generation ahead of everything else.

Main issue with the Oculus HMDs is the low framerate, 72 and 80hz respectively, compared to the Odyssey which is 90hz - which Valve consider to be the minimum for VR.

FYI anyone considering to buy at the moment, I'm getting this message:

Thank you for your patience while we break for the Shabbat holiday. Although online ordering is unavailable, you may still add items to your cart or wish list. Checkout will resume at Saturday 5:45 pm ET

Approx 21 hours from time of this posting.

I'll use the time as a cooling off period to see if I really need one in my life at this moment :)

  • So it looks like the shipping after checkout brings this way up to well over $600 unfortunately.

    • Yeah seems like the cheaper shipping options have all been removed. US$203 is a bit much…

      • +2

it's glitchy, after a refresh it shows the cheaper options for me now

        • For me too… dang, and here I thought the temptation to buy had been well and truly thwarted!
