Course Fee Reduction from Full to Almost Half

Hi Guys,
I need your opinion. I started a course early last year, that time the course fee was $17000 and I paid $10000 of it. But now my institute started receiving Govt Funding and they have reduced the fee for new admissions. The new fee is now only $9500. I asked them to reduce my fee but they have declined by saying that you started last year and I am eligible for Govt Funding Fee. Now what should I do ?

    pay the remainder.

Do you mean ineligible for gov funding?
Perhaps you can withdraw after you finish this year, then re-enroll with your credits counting toward your “new” course.
If the fees are split 50/50 that could potentially save a few thousand.
Otherwise, I don’t think there is anybody offering price protection for education courses.
And your school will have incurred full costs so far, with no gov funding, so aren’t really in a position to offer a refund.

Did you consider waiting a year to do your course? Of course not, as you didn’t know the future. Similarly, your school can’t change the past.

    • I nearly finished my course. It's going to be completed by April 2020

  • Quit the course and protest.

  • that time the course fee was $17000 and I paid $10000 of it

    Are you an international student?

    • No, I paid in monthly installments

        Why aren’t you using HECS?

How about the guys that did it 5 years ago? Should they get a partial refund?

Yeah! I recently finished my locksmithing trade course. This year, they made trade courses free. So, now I want my money back!!

    • Yeah, I fricken paid for insulation weeks before the government launched the free insulation scheme. That sucked.

  • Do the only thing you can do. Find out whether or not you are eligible for government funding. You may not be. Getting angry at your school is pointless if they are just following the rules the government has put in place.

my misses settled her first house one day before they annouced first home owners grant. life sucks

id do what others suggested, exit the course and re enroll or follow up with gov for the equivelant assistance, you may be entitled to it, otherwise just unlucky, what if prices went up… just sucks but thats life sometimes

  • That's Great Help Guys. Now I got my Answer. Thanks
