Best NBN Modem after Signing up with ABB’s Black20 Deal

Hi all, so rather than ordering the modem from Aussie Broadband for $150, I have a chance to find a better modem locally and possibly cheaper with a Black Friday deal. Question is which would be the best modem ?
I’ve signed up to the NBN50 plan but in all likeliness I’ll move up to NBN100 in the future.

  • grab one off Gumtree

    • Good idea.

  • So according to Finder review, I’ve narrowed it down to:
    A) NETCOMM NF18ACV $150 (sold by ABB preset anyway)
    B) TP-LINK VR600 ($190)
    C) D-LINK DSL-4320L Taipan. ($500)

    Any opinions?

    • Netcomm NF18ACV works perfectly fine in a one-bedroom flat. Dual mode available too.

    • It is well worth getting one with a VoIP port so you can have a landline using aussies subscription free option.

    • +1

      Taipan Under 400 plus a 50 e gift card

  • Depends on what you need from it.
VPN and link aggregation for the NAS was important for me so went ASUS rt-ac88u.
Need VoIP i'd look at Fritz box, Billion
    Gaming Asus and others

  • Only FttN needs a modem.
All other technologies only need a router, NBN supply the modem.

Assuming you don't need VOIP landline, grab a Telstra branded modem off Gumtree.
Telstra hand them out for free to existing customers as areas transition across to NBN, so they can be had dirt cheap and they're excellent quality.
Only downside is that they're feature limited. This is easily bypassed by bridging the modem to a router.

  • Thanks all. Got the Taipan off Gumtree for around $200
