JB Hi-Fi Incompetence - Claiming I Picked up Online Order When I Haven't

I bought a phone on the JB HiFi website as part of their black friday promotions and chose a store pickup. Paid with Paypal. I received an email saying the order was ready for pickup and then 5 minutes later received a mail saying it was picked up. I haven't been anywhere near their store. They don't take calls so sent them an email an the later that day a manager responds saying sorry about the delay in responding but its all good - since you've picked up your order. Not sure if its fraud or incompetence but what are my options here?

    Visit the store and ask them to provide a copy of your driver licence.

    • They don't actually take a copy of your licence do they?

      • My store doesn’t, they just make you sign a piece of paper, dunno about others though…

      • No, they just check it, or at least they're supposed to. They do make you sign that you've picked it up though.

    • They need to site your DL. I was there yesterday and they did it for the micro SD card I picked up. She wrote it down on their receipt and asked me to sign it

    Go to the store and sort it out with the manager.

    Yeah I'd go in store and ask, I always have to sign a piece of paper when I pick up an item as well, to prove I picked it up. so at least can see the signature?

    Ok finally managed to get through to someone in the store after 7 attempts. But yes the phone is still there…phew:) Apparently a newbie put the order through as completed when it wasn't. I understand that happening - my issue is with JB Hifi customer support - they could have just spoken to the store and clarified. Instead of compounding the problem by suggesting I've already picked up after telling them I hadn't. Anyways all good now.
