RyanAir Credit Card Declined

Hi,

Has anyone faced this problem as well?

When it comes to the CC detials phase, I click the 'submit' button after filling in all the details, it processes it for a few seconds, then tells me:

Payment Error

Your card payment could not be processed due to one of the below reasons. Please review the below issues and go back to the previous (Payment) page and resubmit:

1.You have mistyped the card number or some of the digits are missing go to the previous (Payment) page and resubmit.
2.The card type selected (e.g. Mastercard, Visa, Visa Electron) is invalid for the card number provided go to the previous (Payment) page and reselect.
3.You have incorrectly entered the card number into the cardholder name box or vice versa go to the previous (Payment) page and re-enter.
4.The billing address is incorrect- go to the previous (Payment) page and re-enter, ensuring the billing address matches the address on your card statement.

I have tried three difference credit cards, I have tried my main credit card probably 10-15 times, in case I got something wrong (like the address: Unit 3 1… or 3/1… etc) I have tried a different browser (originally Chrome, then tried IE)

I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am currently stuck in Paris, because I actually can't purchase a ticket to anywhere I want to go. All the flights are either very expensive with a full service airline, or with RyanAir… which I can't book…

Help!

  • Try calling Ryanair and booking via the agent. This is the Rest Of The World number found via the Contact Us tab, unfortunately the number for France is French speaking only:

    • +44 871 246 0002 – English speaking. Calls cost £0.10 per minute plus international calling rates and network extras.
      Our lines are open Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 19:00 GMT, Sat 10:00 – 17:00 GMT and Sun 11:00 – 17:00 GMT.
    • I tried this, recorded message said they were too busy to help me right now and to try to call back later… I wouldn't be surprised if this was a permanent message…

  • can you take a train out of Paris, to say London on the Eurostar or something?

    • I could, but then I would be stuck in London, I am not really aiming to go home because I am on a 6 month tour of Europe, and only about 4 weeks in, and I have a lot of stuff paid for in the next couple of months,

So what I actually want to do is to go to my next desired destination (Iberian coast, Spain, Portugal etc) so I can continue my sight seeing.. going to London would unfortunately take me in the wrong direction.

  • Had exactly the same problem last year when in Alicante. Had to ask my brother to book it for me on his European credit card. Have had no problems previously booking Ryanair flights with an Australian credit card when in Australia.

If you can't get through on the phone, it might be best to go to an Ryanair's airport ticket booking desk. However, this will cost you extra.

  • Haven't tried this out but you can book Ryanair flights at the same price without admin fees through Travel Republic. Take a read, http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/avoid-ryanair-admin-fees-5-p…

    • Unless I am missing something, the website only allows to book flights to and from UK…?

      • Yes, sorry, you are right. I thought it would show other destinations.

  • Bank of Queensland CANCELLED my card after I booked my RyanAir flight (this was in May). It did go through, but then it was suspended. I rang BOQ up and asked about it and they said it was the Ryanair ticket that did it 'security risk'. It was in my name god damn it! All good now, but FYI.

  • Resorted to catching a train…. which I missed… haha

now waiting 6 hours in the train station for the next one… haha

  • Might be worth trying www.bestflights.com.au to see if they can provide the particular RyanAir fares and tickets that you want. They list RyanAir on their "Low Cost Carriers" page and they sell tickets which have no Australian sectors.

  • easyjet? they are quite cheap too (booked with them last time in europe)
