    • Boost is Telstra’s budget brand. Like Jetstar to Qantas.

      • -4

        Wrong

        • When you order a Boost service, you get invoiced from Telstra. When you call you often get sent to Telstra call centres. It uses the full Telstra network, not the Telstra MVNO network.

For all intents and purposes it’s a branding front for Telstra.

        • +3

          Wrong

My Boost numbers show up on my Telstra Plus page and I can use them to redeem offers.

  • +1

Looks like it's out of stock at OW. Can't select delivery and no in store stock at any stores near me.

    • Yup none of of the Officeworks in Western Sydney area have 'em :(

  • Does your old number (to be ported out) need to be active/have credit to confirm the port request like kogan?

    • You need to respond to the SMS they send you.

  • +1

Does anyone know if Boost customers will be eligible for the esim feature that is now available to Telstra direct customers?

    • +2

I don’t think so. My limited knowledge is eSIM is only available to Telstra, Optus and Vodafone customers not the resellers like Boost, Amasim etc. Would be great if they would open up eSIM.

      • how we get ESIM?

        • In store activation with Telstra, Optus, Vodafone. The generate a code that the scan on your iPhone using the phones camera.

  • Wish there's an eBay sale of this. I have a couple of gift cards that I need to get rid of.

  • +1

Can you keep your old number with this prepaid card?

    • I don’t know .

      Someone post porting instructions :)

    • yes

  • anyone know if this can be price matched in store at office works?

  • Any cashback on this deal?

  • is there any decent roaming option/addon available on boost? their website weirdly suggests purchasing 5$ or 15$ addon before travelling but it does not seem to give any internet abroad; and these addons do not expire (?).

    • -1

International roaming have traditionally not included any data/mms. Overseas mobile providers charge our domestic providers through the nose to forward on these services. Roaming isn't supposed to be a continue to use your phone as normal service. It's intended to be used so you can reached overseas in case of an emergency. Organising an overseas sim for data is almost always a better idea

Just got off the phone with OW. They told me they've sold out

  • What is the option when I finish the plan next year? Can I buy another one like this and use like a recharge?

    • No. Its not a recharge as noted in previous comments.

  • Does OW have this in store also?

  • I went to the Mentone ow about two hours ago, I got the second last one list left at their store, i had to ask for it, they were very nice and looked all over the place for it but they eventually found one for me

  • Are the recharges similar price? I was considering boost.

    • recharge is $150

  • can any one help? what will happen when I recharge $50 then $150 ? will I get 135Gb and expire in 12 months?
    thanks in advance

    • No, it won't roll over. You will lose what's on your old plan when you recharge. You only get rollover on the monthly plans.

Been on Boost for around half a year, all good except that you cannot disable voicemail yourself. Apparently you can only achieve it by contacting support. I haven't bothered doing it yet.

  • I'm so confused about the porting, if my number is with TPG now, how would I port to Boost using this $135 starter sim?

    • Usually just follow the instructions to activate. At some point it should ask if you wanted to keep your existing number (eg TPG) or get a new one. It’ll ask for different details depending on your existing number being prepaid or postpaid.

    • Insert the Boost sim into your mobile (or a spare if you have one)…….follow the activation instructions.
It will ask you if you wish to port an existing number across. Main thing to get right here is your Name and date of birth which it will use to ID you against your existing TPG account upon porting i.e. they need to be the same otherwise you may run into delays.
If all is well, it will port across very quickly (under 30 mins) and your existing TPG SIM will become dead.

      • Right, that helps, thanks!

  • Good deal, but THE worst customer service…..first they sent out the wrong size blank sim, paperwork says it's a nano but it's a micro.
Initiated port from telstra Monday morning at 8am…..still waiting. Every enquiry returns some BS excuse, ie. 'system outage', 'need to wait another 24hrs', 'it's already active and should be working', 'try another device'.
Seriously, how long have we had mobiles, it can't be this hard to switch providers!
So no phone for 2 days and counting.

    • first they sent out the wrong size blank sim, paperwork says it's a nano but it's a micro.

How long ago was this? Don’t they all have nano, micro and mini all on the same card now?

Even the pic here suggests as such!

      • +1

I wish! Received the card on Friday. Definitely no nano option…..the operator I spoke to could even see a micro had been sent out by mistake.

Edit: I think that the fact it's a blank sim makes a difference…..the card I received doesn't look at all like the one you've pictured…..also when I ordered the sim the operator was very specific about me ordering the correct sized sim.

  • when does this have to be activated by? My wifes plan runs out 18 Feb 2020.

  • +1

Considering how frequent these deals come up they should just reduce the price permanently.

Me and my wife ported over from ALDI several months apart and it went relatively smoothly. I ported her's a few weeks ago. I had to ring up the next morning to confirm it ported correctly because we got conflicting SMS's. If I called up straight away the port would've taken about 30min instead of overnight

You can get this Sim card for $130 here: https://www.tovmobile.com.au/products/copy-of-boost-150-star…

Just make an offer of $100 and it should revise to $130 including postage.

    • +2

      Worked as mentioned.
Thanks @arcticmonkey, and best of luck with the cold down there.

    • Can existing customers of tovmobile do this? I've got the 80GB for mine and want to get the same for my wife who's number is in my name. I mean I can add it successfully and login but I thought the deal was just for new customers?

    • thank you.

do you know when these would expire??

My current plan ends mid April.

      • Expires in 2021 with the one I received

  • on kogan currently should i move to this?

    • +2

It's pretty attractive - especially if you can live with the 80Gb cap for the year. More useable outside the bigger cities. Does your phone have B28? That might be a factor for some. Some of the extras that you get with the plan (eg. International calls) might influence you.

I've been a fairly consistent Kogan user up until now - but the relative value has dropped. Currently SIM 'tarting' with a dual SIM handset. Very tempted to bite the bullet on this though!

  • $135 it’s only for new customers?

    • Nope found out it's $130 for either but it's for a new service. I just did my wife's whose number is in my name.

      • Cus if I try to renew mine show up $150!

        • Yeah it's only for a new service. Contact the shop and ask them if they can do it for a renewal or port out then back in again…

I tried at several Office works. They only had stock of 1 or 2 Qty. and are all sold now.
Does anyone know other places where I can get 3 qty. for cheaper than $135?

    • Here, it is marked as expired but the primary link has been relisted again so just check the relisted item, it had 5 available when I checked just now. Otherwise choose the $2 more expensive on in the description link from the OP. Don't forget to use the code!

    • LOL Sorry, so tired I didn't even notice the link I posted didn't work - here it is

Also there is a new post today for a similar thing - here

  • I ordered this on Tuesday and got it just now which is great
but when I opened the satchel, the perforated lines at the back of the sim pack were already torn off.. Should I be concercend? :(

If it helps anyone, I ported from Belong Mobile to Boost today. I kept getting errors on the usual activate boost website, so I just went through the "chat" and gave all the usual details. Name, DOB, driver licence, number, provider (Belong & Prepaid is what I declared - others have said to state it's postpaid. I had success stating it's prepaid. YMMV). Initiated through chat at 2.29pm and was completed by 5.00pm. Boost Sim card now in and working as expected.

    • HI All. If you buy this on the web, do you get a voucher via email or do you have to wait for a sim to be posted out to you?

      • You get a SIM sent in the mail.

        • Thanks. Credit runs out tomorrow. Looks like I might buy one and activate next billing cycle.

  • +1

Can anybody tell us how it is making international calls on their service? is it actually free?
is it landline and mobile or different per country?

  • Hi guys, anyone else having issues with using data?
boost said there is an outage in my area (noble park) until the 15th however ive checked telstra service page and there are no outages.
im thinking i missed a set up step. there is this notification on my phone asking me to sign into boost network but it doesnt accept the sim serial or phone number.

  • Thanks OP, I got the 2nd last one in Brisbane @ Office Wks Strathpine today for $128.25. They had one more left when I collected mine this a'noon.

  • If I get the $40 a month prepaid BOOST sim now, and then get this one, can I use the $40 a month, finish it, then activate this one after a month?

  • This will work in a iPad, will be used for data only?

    • This is an old thread and expired a while back. Best ask any question on newer "live" Boost deals.
If its place in iPad, then obviously can only be data as its a iPad and not a Mobile phone (assuming I am understanding you correctly).

  • If you are already using this recharge/ offer, can you buy and apply another voucher to extend the expiry by additional one year?

  • Alright, so here's some useful info that I gathered via chat with Boost:

    • If you add another recharge voucher while the current voucher is still valid, you lose the unused days. Duration of the plans doesn't stack up with vouchers.

    • The number remains active (for incoming calls and sms) for 6 months after expiry of the plan. You can recharge at any time within this period. However, it's best to recharge a day before the plan expires as the unused data rolls over in that case. Once the plan has expired, you lose the unused data.

  • Does this have the usual Voicemail service? I remember Belong doesn't, it has voice2text message instead, which was a turn off.

  • Not the best price historically but probably the lowest at this time:

    $138 @ https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/352912876190.

    • arcticmonkey's link still works 5o get it for $130. Also cellmate had it for $129, sold out now but supposedly restocking sometime today
