I've seen a few generic smart watches and honestly, they probably aren't worth your money even at $40. Think back to when Android phones/tablets first came out and then suddenly all these cheap $100 models came out which looked alright in pictures, but were unusable because of speed or touch screen technology, etc…

That being said, ALDI does have some great deals and they tend to be better quality than other generic items, so this could prove to be different… but if it were me, I'd stick to one which has got some decent reviews, and if it's not an Android Wear watch, you'll be relying on the manufacturer to support it with the app interface/ecosystem/etc.

    • Any recommendation for and Android Wear watch (or which ones use Android Wear)?

      • I would recommend a Google search. There is loads of current information out there.

      • Fossil is pretty much the only major watch manufacturer taking Android Wear seriously.

From memory, most of their range works well. I personally have a Misfit Vapor 1 (Misfit is owned by Fossil). Android Wear, stainless steel case & band, a 5 ATM water rating and the general look of the watch are why I got it. Have had mine and my partners watches both replaced under warranty (bootlooping, unsure as to cause) so be careful about that, although I don't recall seeing many reports of it, so may be an isolated case.

If your not set on Android Wear, there are still plenty of smart watches that work well with Android. Both Fitbit and Garmin get good reviews, and even the Apple Watch is something worth considering (even with an Android phone).

  • Yuck

  • I'm interested

  • Just buy it, it is only $40,
then you can write a review on them

Don’t forget Aldi have a generous return policy.

“ all of our items are covered by our 60 day refund policy. That means we'll refund or replace any item as long as you return it within 60 days of purchase in its original packaging, along with any accessories it came with and your receipt.”

  • Did you get one?

  • Sold out most stores in metro QLD. Bundaberg , Gladstone were showing stock @2pm QLD time

  • Staff said sold out in all stores in Sydeny in first few hours. Something seems fishy here.

  • Anyone managed to get one?

Went to 4 stores in afternoon (Burwood East, Vermont South, Glen Waverley and Forest Hill) but didn't find any.

The whirlpool forums have a few people talking about them. They look to be the same watch as these according to the people that manage to get one yesterday.

    • Thansk mate. Checking out the links now.

  • Bought the last one from Waterloo Sydney. Not sure if I should keep it for myself or give it away for secret Santa?

  • Got one for my other half as it looks very similar to fitbit versa-similarity ended there! Didn't do stuff as promised and if phone was not nearby lost sync and went back to default- (9.30am Jan 1 2000) so don't know if we got a dud but took it back,
