Place in Sydney to Buy Quality Sofa at Reasonable Price

Hi all,

Any recommendations on where to shop for a new sofa?

Ideally a place that won't take 2 months to deliver either

Thanks!

    Fantastic furniture

  • Fantastic, IKEA, Amart.

  • Fantastic or IKEA.

But if you're looking for something a bit more premium, you may need to settle for whatever they have on the floor because there usually is a 2-3 month lead time when you order from say Plush or King.

buy quality sofa at reasonable price

A $5,000 sofa is "reasonable" or even "cheap" to some people, but others might consider it to be "expensive".

We ain't mind readers here. What is "reasonable" to you and what is your definition of "quality"? You might get better responses from everyone.

    • Fair point. Reasonable to me is a price point around $2k give or take for at least 3 seater with chaise or larger.

Quality looking for better than Fantastic Furniture, probably around Plush/Nick Scali but it doesn't have to be a brand. I was hoping there were some local stores that weren't big chains that everyone didn't know about.

      • then theres this with 4 available

Seriously, you give little details and we are then supposed to look inside your head and know what the hell you want. 😀

I have enough trouble understanding my partner of many years.

You need to give some more details.

Leather, Vinyl, fabric. Colour Style - modern old fashioned - floral etc etc

        I see you're in Melbourne.

If you go to the Plush store in South Wharf, they have a section for things such as cancelled orders or returns etc. The sofas are on display and they keep reducing the price (think weekly?) until its sold. You might find something you like in there. I've seen some pretty good deals there. The only downside is you have to transport it yourself.

@RockyRaccoon: My bad! I should've read the title of the post little clearer! I just looked at the profile location.

Plush in Sydney might have a similar kind of thing where they put cancelled or returned orders.

        • I've bought from Plush with a normal order, and I've been pretty happy with the purchasing process, the delivery, and it's been about two years and still happy with the couch.

That being said, don't take whatever they claim is the RRP/sticker price to be the 'price'. It feels like in any given week there's a sale of sorts circa 40-50% off so keep that in mind.

The other thing is if you can get the Plush Protect, I felt that was surprisingly good value (not that I've claimed on it) to get a cleaning kit + a guarantee that if it stains, they'll replace it with new material at your house.

See if there is anything from Lounge lovers that suits your style. You'll have to buy from the pre-selected fabrics/colours if you want it within a week of ordering. I customised mine and it truly took 8 to 12 weeks to get delivered. Softest sofa I found.

        • Nice, which one did you get?

@motlking: I got the Hampton 3 seater in a dark colour. It fits in the space I have. The Hamptons range is their most popular. You can check it out at their showroom.

  • Has anyone purchased from B2C Furniture or Castlery?

These one look good but too bad they don't have a showroom in Sydney.

  • I got my sofa at Plush about 10 years ago, still like new.

  • Have you considered a set of used furniture from Gumtree or maybe even the Salvos? I'd imagine it would be quite cheap compared to buying new.

  • Roadside collection, Facebook market place, Gumtree. If it looks old/warn or has noticeable stains just buy some new fabric and sew it over the top and voilà, Bob's your uncle.
