    The cheap fares don’t seem to include the West Coast - NYC sector on Qantas’ 787, you get a code share flight with American, United or Alaska. For the privilege of sticking with the QF flight you have to pay an extra ~$400.

  • Lands in Newark, NJ. Then you gotta take a bus/train/uber to NYC.

      Same issue even landing at JFK, NY need to take train/taxi or Uber. And it takes roughly the same time to get to Manhattan if you land in JFK anyway, although depending on where in Manhattan you go to and traffic etc.

      • I prefer fly into JFK or LGA because I normally stay in Brooklyn. But this is a bargin so it doesnt really matter.

        • I have family in Jersey City so I'd much prefer this.

  • Best time to go?

        The current thinking is that Trump will get another term,
        If the government of the day is the deciding factor in travel, you have bigger issues. you are there for a holiday, not to live :)

          @ma77mc Think it's a fairly reasonable factor!

          Certainly wouldn't say someone has "issues" because of their decisions not to visit! Especially when it's a controversial president.

          The people I know (inclusive of myself) have skipped locations for that very reason. Yes, there's more danger in other regions but I'd rather visit the Whitehouse when there's a conservative I like, rather than the current one. Each to their own

    • Santa will write down all your wishes, but there's nothing he could do about it even for next Chirstmas.

      Yeah it's not great losing 30% of your money when you travel.

        It hasn't been close to parity in the last 5 years though.
