Please Recommend a Scooter for an 8 Year Old

Hello

Am looking for a scooter for my 8 year old. He is able to ride two wheels well and will probably want to go to the skate park on it. He is 134 cm tall.

I am a bit overwhelmed with the choice available tbh. Local scooter shop recommended Longboard Summit but his prices are a lot more than online. Was thinking MGP or something similar, I would like it to last a few years so would like to get one with a brand name that he is still happy for ride in a few years when he know more about them, also I need help buying the correct size which I am a bit unsure about looking online.

I am aware that there is a Rebel sport 20% later today and have also had a look on eBay.

Price bracket between $100 - $200 but obviously looking for a a $300 scooter on sale for $100 lol.

If anyone would like to give me any help that would be great, thanks.

    Local shop = advice, sizing, servicing

    Online = probably cheaper

    For things like bikes and scooters, it is difficult to get the sizing correct for children (to accommodate their growth over coming months). Same with their skills and getting something that will not need 'upgrading' in a few months.
    I'd suggest finding another local shop for a comparison and go with whichever of those two you like best.

      Thanks, I was originally going to buy a Colt from my local shop that I had seen earlier in the year but last week he only had the Summit in stock which tbh didn’t look as nice. I googled summit and Catch have them for a lot less than he was doing them, I do appreciate he is a small business though so am happy to pay a bit extra for his service and will likely go to him for any repairs. He did say he would look into getting me a Colt and would give me a call but that was over a week ago. There is a bike / scooter shop in the next town so I may drive over and see them if he doesn’t get back to me.

    They seem ok but I'm definitely no expert… sounds like the models you are looking at are in a totally different league.

    Razor…. Don't. We had them for our two. Lated a few months then threw them away. Nasty cheap things.

    Then we went to MGP. Great things. If you buy new old stock, the prices are reasonable.

    You can buy the razor ones and save some money. If your kids like scootering then you can upgrade. Saves buying the expensive ones then kids lose interest…..

    No right answer.

      Thats interesting…. my 7 & 9 yo have the ones above, they have had a year of being used a fair bit and they are fine. They dont use them for tricks or anything, just riding local skate bowl and bike paths.

    What did you end up buying and are you happy with it? I was looking at the Fuzion 350 for my son but it’s $279. I quite like the look of the Microscooter trick too at $220.

    Shred BMX Scooter Toymate.

    This is great and will last longer as the child grows, plus some off-roading as it works on grass/dirt.

    I also got my 8 year old a MGP from rebel sport. It was marked to clear. It's a really solid build.
