Purchasing from Lenovo US store in Australia

Has anyone managed to recently successfully purchase a Lenovo laptop from the US store via a parcel forwarder?
The price for the model i am after with a corporate perks discount link is about $2000 cheaper than buying locally (even with local corporate discount and factoring GTS). This is ridiculous.

However I have tried to place an order and it seems (from what I have read on forums) that they block all purchases from non-US issued credit cards and non-US PayPal purchases. Some have success suing Amazon Pay in the past but apparently that no longer works either.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

    $2000 cheaper? I've never even used a $2000 laptop.

I'd love a GTS laptop. Imagine how fast it would be!

  • how much would it cost to fly to the states & back to get the laptop?

  • Not worth buying anything from lenovo website, just cancelled an almost 2 month order waiting for them to ship an item from the australian website. Fuk em

    • Yes i am getting a similar feeling. Prices compared to the US are a rip off, certain spec options not available locally, 4+ week wait time, and no almost no local stores where you can have a look at the machine before buying.
I have found a seller on ebay US "ellen_mouse" which has good ratings and lots of options in stock. The trouble is shipping is expensive and gst + duty needs to be paid on import. I am considering using a parcel forwarder and declaring my own value for the item to minimize duty…

As much as Apple can be a rip off they sure know how to run their business. Everything is in stock and CTO items ship in several days, plus prices are equivalent to the US. Perhaps Lenovo needs to offer fewer options (read somewhere that they have over 6000 possible configuration options across all laptop variants). For example, why the f**k do they still sell 15" 1366 x 768 screens in 2019 as an option on some models.

      • spec options not available locally

not just specs, a whole bunch of models!
