JB HI FI $500 off Handset, Can I Cancel and Renew My Current Plan to Get The Discount

Morning All
So I signed up for a 24 month contact for $65 a month when the JB HI FI promo came out.
If you signed up for a 24 month contract you got the Google pixel 4 for $295 (or around that) . I signed up to the contract then decided I wanted to stick to Apple so sold the pixel.

Anyway long story short I see JB HI FI have a Promo where you can get $500 of a phone if you sign up to the $65 a month contract. I have decided I would like the iPhone 11.
Would it be possible to cancel my current Telstra plan and rejoin and get the $500 of the handset (iPhone 11)
Would love to know

    If you cancel your plan then you'll have to pay the early termination fee in your contract.

    Have a read of your contract & it'll show this fee.

    Two things to check would be ETC on the existing plan seeing as you signed up for 24 months, including any handset repayments.

    Second thing to check is if the $500 handset discount applies to existing Telstra customers or if it's an offer exclusively for new or port in customers.

    1. They may have closed the M2M loophole, so you'll likely need to pay ETC
    2. You'll need to port out your number for at least 30 days
    3. Wait until $500 promo comes again next year

      With the M2M loophole, if we managed to get on the m2m plan already, is it safe to port out without early termination charge?

        Yes, but I'd double and triple check with a sales rep (and get them to email you transcript that confirms no ETF).

    $65 * 24 + $295 = $1855

    You want to break that contract, which will be subject to a ECT Fee, and you want to sign up for another $65 * 24 = $1560 (-$500)?!

    I know it's not your question, but you should be more frugal with your money / choices (unless you've done the maths and it works out a bargain..?)

    All those JB offers are for new customers or port in customers. You’ll have to port out, wait 30 days, and then port back in. But you run the risk of the offer being pulled
