Does she specifically need it to be an AIO?

As djkelly69 said above, why does she need an AIO? The only upside is they basically require no fiddling. Downside is they'll be obsolete in 5 years and non-upgradable (that I know of)
Grab an Optiplex, KB+M, screen and save yourself $500.

Just duct tape the tower to the back of the monitor and hey presto!

this optiplex, or any you see on OzB will do
    Put an SSD into it
big screen for the candy crush
    gamer KB+M for minesweeper

    $331 delivered

If she really needs to kick her gaming up a notch, grab some DDR3 while you're at it

Hi guys, I know nothing about tech stuff so please help me decide on an AIO!

I don't think OP has any plans on doing any upgrades making a CPU upgrade out of the question on a desktop PC. HP AIOs normally have upgradable RAM and storage with easy access in most cases.

      • Yeah I guess it's just my hatred for buying PC's at a place like Harvey Norman that make me biased to things like AIOs.

      • Still, it's paying a huge premium for what's just a prettier form factor.

        • Well yeah… it's an all in one.

          • @Clear: Haha yeah. I guess the point is, OP doesn't know about tech so probably also doesn't know they don't need an AIO.

  • Go with option 2 I think. It has an NVMe SSD that'll make Windows start up quickly and a 1TB drive that's perfect for storing a large amount of files if mum was wanting to load photos etc.

  • I'd also check to see if there's an output for a second monitor.

If you've got a display issue in the AIO, you've got potentially expensive repairs to get it working again instead of a quick work around.

So, if the others don't - Option 2 has HDMI output.

  • for that stuff buy a tablet

  • I can't believe they still sell computers without an SSD.

  • What do you think of this one - not the strongest processor but looks not too bad:
    Lenovo 340 with 512SSD and 8GB RAM - 24 inch screen (FullHD) - Pentium Gold G5420T 3.2ghz
