  • I guess Aura limited edition never came to Australia?

  • +1

Finally bought one. Mum can have my five year old Paperwhite.

  • +4

Damn it! I bought one from HN just 10 days ago for $145.50 including postage. 😔

  • What are these like compared to the paperwhite kindle ? book format doesn't bother me - I can use calibre. I was wondering on battery life, screen quality, reliability … Are they the same ?

  • +2

Does it work with overdrive library?
Can you download books from cloud storage such as dropbox?

    • +4

It works with overdrive which is why I prefer it over Kindle.

Does this mean I can borrow eBooks from libraries here that support Overdrive? That will be really attractive for me. I rather read on an eInk device than iPad.

        • +1

Yep, apparently you can even browse your library's content on the device itself and borrow/place holds etc. I can't wait. My library has a pretty massive ebook catalogue.

          • @em: Can you get the book directly on the Kobo, without going via a PC?

            • @bongo007: Yeah, that's the beauty of it

Thanks, I was very tempted to buy this a few weeks ago when it was $150. Pulled the plug today as a present for Mrs Duck

I thought I had my wife's present sorted with the Bose earbuds, then that deal was cancelled. Attempt number 2 with this. Please don't make me go out Christmas shopping. Please…

    • +14

Uh do you and DrDuck have the same wife by any chance…

      • I'd be happy with a Mrs Duck. Ducks generally go into Christmas with no expectations.

Fantastic first post sonofa, lowest price ever by almost $20!

    I wish I could give you 2 votes :)

    Thank you OP.

Has been hesitating to get a proper e-reader because I did not want to carry an extra thing around.
But this price is too attractive to resist and also better for the eyes since no longer reading via the mobile phone.

  • +5

    It’s back in stock.

    • Yup, back in stock. Bought one.

  • I bought one for my wife for Christmas but will now return that one for this. $20 discount! Just hope it arrives in time.

    • If you bought from HN like me then you will have to ship it back since it was an online only sale, right? In that case you need to deduct the cost of the return shipment? I have already opened mine so I'll have to suck it up and live with it.

      • I got mine from Jbhifi so I hope the return should be simple :)

Back in stock. Got one. Thanks OP!

  • Kobo non-native translations are a nightmare to install and use

  • Does anyone have a screen shot or receipt from this deal? I’d like it to make a price protection claim, thanks.

  • Missed out on this! my kindle is blinding me a night.. need that warm white LED backlight!!
