Help Me Find a Modem Router

Hi, I'm in need of a new modem router that supports ADSL2+ plus HFC and vdsl for nbn - I'm currently at a place with only adsl but plan on moving in the next 6 months to a place with nbn.

I believe Netgear nighthawk and the ASUS range are usually the top recommendations but Im unsure of which is the best all-round model these days. The plan was to spend a little more to get something that's going to be future proof, I was even interested in something with Wifi 6 support but didn't realise that'll be over $500 and I'm looking for something more in the $200-$250 range.

Depends which ISP you use for NBN, some have extra requirements.

But as a budget option, grab a Telstra Gateway Max from Gumtree. It'll do everything you need it to now and likely into the future, they're actually quality modems and they're a bargain, cause Telstra give/gave them out for free to existing customers.

  • ASUS.

Buy whichever model supports your needs and falls in your budget.

  • I'm leaning towards the Asus dsl-ac68u. The ac88u is crazy expensive and doesn't seem to be well regarded anyway. What does everyone think?
