PerformancePlus Dual Action Car Polisher $99 @ Autobarn

10

Not sure what the price is usually but it is $149 at Autopro currently.

Supercheap Auto eBay also has the Rockwell ShopSeries Car Polisher Multi-Function - 180mm, 600 Watt for $100.09 if you're so inclined but from OzBargain archives that can be discounted to $60 occasionally.

    So it's autobarn not repco?

    • Yeah, sorry, my bad! I've fixed it now.

This seems better, also at Autobarn which you’ve linked…

    • Is it dual action?

    • As Owgasm said, that's not dual action, and it's got a much larger backing plate. It's also battery powered.

Very different machine for a very different kind of consumer.

Some are just polishers, some random orbital as well, which is better

    • There's two kinds: dual action and rotary polishers.

Dual action polishers spin like how the earth spins around the sun (i.e. there's the earth rotating around it's axis, and then the earth rotating around the sun) but rotary polishers only spin in the one axis.

Rotaries are much more aggressive and can easily damage paint while dual action polishers are much safer. You can polish much quicker with a rotary though.

Had this, it bogs down, underpowered, not dual action when you apply pressure I'd avoid.

    • Hey! Thanks for the information! I was seriously considering getting it because I've heard it's the same thing as the Harbour Freight from the USA and the Rocky from Supercheap.

Could you expand on how it's not dual action when you apply pressure and what you would recommend instead of it?

    • +1

That's incorrect. When you apply pressure, it stalls because it's a safety feature. By applying pressure you're removing the dual action or the freespinning action hence making it a rotary.

      • Thanks for the information sunnyc! Would you be interested in selling yours then Sleepycat? :P
